Chesque Art Research Paper
During the period of the Romanesque, art was influenced by Byzantinian Art and Roman Art. Romanesque art's concentration was on religion and incorporated beautiful murals painted on domed ceilings and walls, stained glass and carvings on columns and buildings. Although Biblical figures were a rarity prior to the year 1000, "rich ensembles of figural reliefs began to appear again, most often in the grand portals through which the faithful" (Kleiner 350) or pilgrims passed through. Manuscript art and sculpture was also highlighted during Romanesque times.
One striking features of Romanesque art was the Romanesque Church Portal. The 5 parts of the Romesque Church Portal are the tympanum, the voussoirs, the lintel, the trumeau and the jambs.
