Thank you for your post. I do agree your example. Charting process is an inefficient behavior in nursing care. We should spend our time in planning, educating, monitoring, performing nursing care. However, this is a real cruel world. In order to protect ourselves and patients, we have to document what we have done.
Personally, I believe the scientific management theory also make a good guideline for new staffs to follow up and quickly familiar with the work tasks. Nevertheless, the world is constantly changing and updating so we have to move forward to reach the optimal benefits of patients, co-workers and the organization. Good use of management theories can help people improve their ability.
