Imagine you're a 15 year old boy. You have been out all day, with your friends, or something that would make a great dinner time story for your family. You then come home to find you mother, father tied to chairs, and murdered. Afterwards you walk into another room to see your little sister and little brother, brutally murdered. Sounds like everyone's worst nightmare, but in this case it is one boys reality. Charlie Otero was in 10th grade when he discovered his family in his own home had been strangled to death. Some people wait their entire lives for the freedom that comes with this age. Kathryn Bright got to experience being 21 for only a short while before that freedom was stripped from her. A brother, and sister were hanging out in their home when a “average-sized, bushy mustached, psychotic eyed man” came in their home and changed their lives forever. He was described by the surviving brother, Kevin Bright, in a police report. Kathryn Bright was tied up with a cord, and partially dressed when found. She also showed signs that told us she was not only strangled, but stabbed multiple times in the abdomen. Kevin was very lucky to get out alive, but didn't leave the crime scene the same. He was shot two times, and was forced to tie his sister up before the killer then tied him up in the next room. The killer told Kevin he didn't want to hurt them. He said he only wanted money and a car to get to New York. Kevin never saw his sister's body, he didn't know she was dead until six days after her murder. When he ran out of the house he ran into two people one helped him stand as the other called the police.

In the killers journey to fame he decided to write a letter on October 1974. He placed his letter in a book at a public library. In the note he confessed to killing the Oteros family in 1974. He wrote “It’s hard to control myself. You probably call me psychotic with sexual perversion hang up.” He also went

Nancy Fox The killer saw her going into her home and knew she would be his next victim. He started stalking her. He got her name off her mailbox, then figured out where she worked so he started showing up there. December 8th 1977 he knocked on her door when no one answered he cut her phone lines, and broke in to wait for her to come home. When she got there she said she wanted to get it over with, she barely fight back which the killer loved. At first she verbally was, but he seemed to like it so she stopped. She then started clawing at his his private parts, but in his killing high he liked that even more so she gave up. She asked if she could use the bathroom first, he told her she better be completely undressed when she came out. When she did he handcuffed her, tied her to the bed, and started strangling her with his belt. When she was almost dead he released in a little bit enough for her to gasp for a breath, and he whispered to her” I am BTK. I am a bad guy.” She then started squirming so he pulled tighter, and put pressure on her neck. After she died he didn't have sexual relations, but he masturbated before calling the police to admit what he did. Shortly after he sent a poem into a local newspaper station about the Vian killing. Several weeks later he sent a letter to a local tv station saying he was responsible for the Vian killing, and another unknown victim. He made allusion to other killers that are more

From his looks, women apparently felt they had no reason to fear him; as one rape victim reported, "He sort of looked like the perfect dork." Once they got in his truck or car, though, the psychopath appeared, and the number of victims accumulated rapidly over the years. Most of the rapes were never reported, and even when Hansen was positively identified, his respectable facade always won over the prostitute's version of the story. Ferrin was a waitress at Terry's Waffle House in Vallejo. In a popular book about the case seventeen years later, an unsubstantiated story circulated that the Zodiac was an admirer and regular customer of hers. It was claimed that she knew him responsible for the Lake Herman Road (and perhaps other) murders, and that he killed her either to prevent her from fingering him or because she was blackmailing him in exchange for her silence. None of this has any basis in fact, and can be traced directly to the low-budget 1971 movie, The Zodiac Killer, the 1979 novel The Zodiac Killer by Jerry Weissman, and a May 4, 1981 story by Bill Wallace that appeared in the Chronicle.[3][4] Detectives John Lynch and Ed Rust of the Vallejo Police Department initially investigated the crime. Detective Jack Mulanax took over the case in the…

“Ask a psychopath what love is and he’ll go on and on, but he has never felt it himself…If you catch him lying, he’ll just shift gears and go on as though nothing had happened” (Goleman). Ted Bundy was one of the most famous psychopaths in the history of the country (Nordheimer). People say he was the perfect killer- handsome, intelligent, witty, and charming (Boynton 25). Bundy was the complete opposite of what people thought a serial killer looked like, so his victims did not fear him (“Ted Bundy”). Robert Keppel, an expert on serial killers, stated, “He taught us that a serial killer can appear to be absolutely normal, the guy next door (“Serial Killers and Mass Murderers”). At one point he was working for a suicide hotline; a friend once said, “Ted Bundy took lives, he also saved lives” (Thompson). Bundy not only thrived on the attention he received from the police and the media (Editors), but loved the thrill of stalking his victims (U*X*L). Not one person Ted Bundy knew would have guessed he was able to do such horrid things.…

“All victims were strangers to him, all murders had been done in the middle of the night except for one. While he was nervous and fearful at the first shooting; he took great pleasure in it. He alone knew who killer was. He was omnipotent. The “demons” had transformed the unassuming and quite ordinary David Berkowitz into one of the most sought-after killers of modern times” (Abrahamsen, 1985). During childhood an individual goes through phases, events, emotions that shape his or her adulthood, David Berkowitz was not an exception like many other murders he was the product of his formative years. Notorious for the spree of killings committed in 1976-77 in New York City of young women, whom he stalked, and preyed on after dark. For one year…

Looking at Ted Bundy’s life, aspirations, and intelligence, no one would have guessed he was a serial killer. Most often, the serial killer is bright, appealing, and cordial. Ted Bundy mastered all of these characteristics (“Crime Museum”). Behind every serial killer is most likely a twisted background (Gendes 89-90); this is clear looking at Ted Bundy’s misfortunate childhood. His parents were Samuel and Eleanor Cowell. Samuel was both his father and his grandfather. Eleanor had Bundy out of wedlock. She gave out random names of distant men claiming they were the father in a pitiful attempt to mask the debauchery that her father had committed to her. Due to Bundy and Eleanor’s “Christian” upbringing, her parents could not bear to have their good name foiled by a pregnancy out of wedlock. So to mask reality, they told Bundy that Eleanor was his sister, and the grandparents raised him as their own. With Bundy’s confusing childhood, Ted did not have the easiest, or best, life by any means. At the young age of 12, Ted Bundy started to read and watch pornography. He would go through the neighbour’s trash cans searching for pornographic images. He would also peek through neighbours’ windows hoping to see a woman undress. These are early signs and actions of a future serial killer (“A Transcript of Ted Bundy’s Final Interview”). Ted Bundy described in his last interview how he believed that pornography led him to commit the horrible acts he executed.…

The first believed murder of the Zodiac Killer took place on October 30, 1966, at the Riverside City College. Cheri Jo Bates was in the library studying. A man had gone into the library to wait for Bates to leave. There were no witnesses, but it is believed that she left when the library closed at 9 p.m.. Before waiting for Bates The man had tampered with her vehicle. When Bates left the library, the man waited a few minutes. That way when he would go out she would have already drained her battery. He went over to Bates to offer his assistance to fix her car. After a while of “unsuccessful” fixing. He offered her a ride home, he told her that his car was just down the way. She had followed her in to an ally way. Again their weren’t any real witnesses, but its believed that they had stood in the ally talking for an hour and a half. Approximately around 10:30 p.m. a few residents around the area had heard a “awful’ scream, then a few minutes later a muttered scream and then they heard a starting of an old vehicle. In the police report the man had stabbed Bates multiple times. She was stabbed three times…
