Bonaventure Chiropractic clinic will open soon in Shreveport, Louisiana and I have been hired as the HR Director for this facility. My first task is to perform a job analysis to determine the number of full-time employees this chiropractor will need to adequately run his office in a proficient, patient-friendly, manner. Therefore, it is important for me to examine the tasks performed in clinic, examine the competencies required to perform those tasks, and to form a connection between the tasks and the competencies. Dr. Smith, who is the owner of the clinic, was previously employed at an established, busy Chiropractic office that maintained 4 chiropractors located across town. Fortunately, many of his patients have decided to follow him to…

The other student and I, as we have in previous weeks, again assessed the additional range of motion and this week we say even more of a change that in the previous week. The therapist then took some time stretching out the client and seeing for herself the growth. The client was very excited with the growth that he is showing in this area was incredibly impressive. The client, again had almost full extension of his elbow, but this week it was considerably easier for him to reach this goal. One of the most major successes was that when the client pulled his fingers open, when he kept his wrist bend, his fingers stayed open.…
1. The anatomy and physiology are important in relation to the correct moving and positioning of individuals as the anatomy is the physical structure of the body and the physiology is the functions of the body. When working with people with limited or reduced mobility, care workers must be aware that client’s movements may be slower and more difficult, with muscles becoming weak and floppy. Therefore care workers must remember to only move bones at joints. An example of this would be the hip joints, they have limited movement and to try and move it beyond its range can cause damage and pain to the client. Types of joints throughout the human body include hinge joints i.e. The knee or elbow that can straighten and bend, pivot joints i.e. neck allows movement from side to side, saddle joints i.e. thumb allow a back and forth and side to side movement and ball and socket joints i.e. the shoulder and hip are the freest moving joints as they are the most flexible. Pulling or dragging clients without a hoist or the correct equipment can cause serious damage to these joints. Our muscles are attached to the…

What is the purpose of this exercise? In this exercise I will exam how joints function and thereby discover how they allow for movement in the body. Joints are where two bones come together. The joints hold the bones together and allow for movement of the skeleton. All of the bones, except the hyoid bone in the neck, form a joint. Joints are often categorized by the amount of motion they allow. Some of the joints are fixed, like those in the skull, allow for no movement. Other joints, like those between the vertebrae of the spine, allow for some movement. Most of the joints are free moving synovial joints. In this exercise I will exam how joints function and thereby discover how they allow for movement in the body.…
They allow virtually no movement. They are rigid and immovable like joints in the skull.…
Low-impact activities of daily living, walking, swimming, and stationary bicycling can strengthen unaffected muscles, improve cardiovascular health, and help patients fight fatigue and depression. Range of motion and stretching exercises can help prevent painful spasticity and shortening of muscles. Physical and occupational therapists can show you exercises that provide these benefits without overworking muscles. They can suggest devices such as ramps, braces, walkers, bathroom equipment like shower chairs, toilet risers, and wheelchairs that help patients remain mobile. Occupational therapists can provide or recommend equipment and adaptations to enable people to retain as much safety and independence in activities of daily living as possible.…
The field I would like to be in is the Equine Massage/ Chiropractic. I’ve competed in barrel racing and riding horses since I was in the 6th grade and I’ve always loved horses. I have been in 4-h and showing at the Southwest Washington Fair, and the State fair. I also compete for a high school equestrian team. For one of your 4-h club meetings our group had a horse massage therapist come out and look at all the horses and teach us how to tell if something's wrong, and to teach us how to do certain riding exercises to strengthen our horses. When she was working on my horse, she said that she has a rib out of place, which explained a lot of things like how she was acting when I was riding. She was working on my horse, and I could just see the…

The overload and specificity of training principles also apply to development of muscular flexibility. To increase the total range of motion (ROM) of a joint, the specific muscles surrounding that joint have to be stretched progressively beyond their accustomed length. The principles of MODE, INTENSITY, REPETITIONS and FREQUENCY of exercise also can be applied to flexibility programs.…

The realm of physical therapy is enormous and covers the whole body and its functioning. Within this chamber, all of those philosophies have movement as the core of approach. We tend to think the message of movement system would unite and bring the profession of physical therapy closer together. However, the fields of physical therapy are still very young, and other healthcare professionals such as chiropractic and personal training might not share the concept within the movement system, thus causing conflict of interest when it comes to treating a patient. Just as APTA provided a statement in 2013, where physical therapy professionals focus on “transforming society through optimizing movement”. This is the reason why I want to become a therapist that would utilize the movement system to bring cohesion within the profession.…
