Cfla Reflection
In my freshman year at Franklin County High School I signed up for Family, Career, Community, Leaders, of America (F.C.C.L.A.). I didn’t know how much of an effect that this club would have on me . FCCLA has provided me with many opportunities. I have had traveled to places I had never been. Also, it has developed me as a person and shown me good character skills to have and to also use on a daily basis.
FCCLA is a program that is dedicated to teaching young men and women the values of a good citizen and also being a leader. The national organization addresses important issues pertaining to family, personal life, community, work, and social issues. The children told us about what they use the internet for and some of the results were shocking to us. We found out that some of the students had Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other types of social platforms. We asked if they felt safe using the internet some answered yes and others answered no. While we were there we taught them ways that they can stay safe while on the internet. We had a few games that related back to the lesson. One game was the “Toothpaste Game” this related back to; what you put on the internet can never be taken back just like you can not put the toothpaste back in the container. Our next game was “Two Truths and a Lie” we related this back to what people put on the internet can be deceitful.
After we had gather our data we had to put our display board together. While putting our pieces on our display we came up with S.A.F.E. as the title. S stands for “Stand Up” when you see someone being bullied on social media you should always stand up and ask a parent or guardian for help. A stands for “Appropriate” what you post on social media should always be appropriate. F stands for “Face The Consequences” if you do post something negative you should always be able to accept the consequences. E stands for “Everyone Will See” whatever you post on the internet people will see it and it will never go
