I could have saved a lot of time and lessen a number of mistakes. Whether you manage a large or small Fleet many of the challenges are the same and shouldn’t be a factor in your decision to pursue the CPFC certification. Having tackled about every topic this program covers, one of the benefits I didn’t expect was the rewarding feeling as I went through the study guides affirming many past decisions while reinforcing management philosophies. It also was a reminder of area’s to re-evaluate.

At the time I was working toward the certification I had more than one person ask why are you bothering to get certified? Your career is set, meaning I was old of course, I’m responding now telling anyone that will listen that 60 is the new 40!

Although any good manager naturally leads by example, it's easy to forget the impact it has. My decision to pursue the CPFP certification was simply to challenge myself and expand my knowledge. It was interesting the conversations around continuing education my decision prompted and how many employees refocused on their education.

Being a Fleet Manager is one of the most challenging yet rewarding careers you can ask for. The ultimate reason you should have the CPFP certification is the ensurance that you truly understand how to successfully manage your Fleet protraying a level of professionalism you wouldn’t otherwise
