A Career As A Chief Warrant Officer
Appointment to Chief Warrant Officer would not only fulfill a major career goal, it would provide me an opportunity use all of my knowledge, experience, and expertise to assist the C4IT community and the Coast Guard as we move forward in an extremely fluid and adaptive time in our service’s history. We are now in a time when technology has advanced from just tools for the job, to essential mission instruments heavily relied upon by our operators. The skill sets I have honed since graduating from ET A-school and my passion for our Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer makes me the perfect candidate to continue moving us in positive direction. I honestly believe that being a ploice officer is very hard. There are some positives and negatives to it. It is obvious that we are all human and make multiple mistakes, and at times we do not agree on the selection of choices that ploice officers use upon the people. Some of the positives are that police officers have the right of arrresting someone who is using illgeal behavior. For an example, say you are at a plaza walking around with your friends, and suddenly you see someone had too much to drink and they are causing a sence; to which you can't avoid or control the persons actions, you will have to call the police and they will settle the situation so it doesn't lead to breaking a law. A negative discretionary decision, would be the…

Knowing and understanding the history of the Chief, CPO 365, and the Chief’s Mess help clarify the roles and responsibilities of the Chief among the ranks. The Chief Petty Officer Creed on goatlocker.org states, “Your new responsibilities and privileges do not appear in print. They have no official standing; they cannot be referred to by name, number, nor file. They have existed for over 100 years, Chiefs before you have freely accepted responsibility beyond the call of printed assignment. Their actions and their performance demanded the respect of their seniors as well as their juniors. It is now required that you be the fountain of wisdom, the ambassador of good will, the authority in personal relations as well as in technical applications. "Ask the Chief" is a household phrase in and out of the Navy. You are now the Chief.” Chiefs wear anchors not just as an identifier of their rank, but as a symbol of importance, courage, and devotion to their Sailors and junior…

Firstly, I want to become a Marine Officer in order to serve and give back to my country. Secondly, as I desire to become a Marine Infantry Officer, leading fellow Marines in the Marine Corps as an Infantry Officer would be the greatest honor, privilege, and responsibility one could possess. Finally, becoming a Marine Officer will challenge me both physically and mentally as well as develop me into the best person, citizen, leader, and ultimately the best Marine I can be. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself and make a difference in the world, as Ronald Reagan said “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don’t have that problem.”…
