Catelyn Stark Case
Statement of Facts Catelyn Stark (“Cate”) has a claim for Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress (“NIED”). Cate has an adult son, Jon, born between Eddark Stark (“Ned”) and Wylla Starfall (“Wylla”). Jon was 1 year old when Ned married Cate. 15 months after the marriage, Ned left Jon with Cate and has not contacted them since. Cate never formally divorced Ned or adopted Jon. She had briefly obtained brief custody of Jon but never renewed it since its expiration in 1997. As years passed, both have become very emotionally attached. Jon has always called Cate “mom”, and Cate has always raised him like her own, referring to him as her “son”. Jon briefly attended college before dropping out to pursue his fencing career in order to compete in the Olympics in fencing. On December 23, 2016, Cate was waiting for Jon and his girlfriend Ygritte in the bar area inside the Westeros Restaurant (“Westeros”) at Times Square for a holiday celebration dinner. It was dark and snowing on that evening. The bar area was situated a few feet past the foyer of the restaurant and was open to the dining area with no wall in-between. The front entrance was not easily visible from the bar area. At the time, as a customer attraction, the restaurant had a hovering drone fitted with a camera and mistletoe that hovered outside the restaurant. It flew around filming …show more content…

She then heard a loud crash, and with that, the storefront window shattered. Pieces of drone flew into the dining area and the place went

The writer would then review the information provided in the intake application. This information allows the writer the chance to gain an understanding of Maria’s history, her needs, and the reason for why she ended up in counseling. This can help the writer in his assessment and treatment plan because by understanding the needs and history of the client the writer can then eliminate the behavior which in Maria’s case can be multiple different behaviors. Contrastingly in “Catrin” the imagery is extended to demonstrate the permanence of the relationship between the mother and daughter. “Red rope of love” and “From the heart’s pool that old rope”. This metaphor implies the mental and physical bonds between the two people. Alliteration in “red rope” emphasises the sense of anger that love can sometimes cause. The rope is a metaphorical tie between the mother and daughter which connects the two, despite their differences. Furthermore the “red rope” contrasts with the colour of the white room. This depicts how the passion of the relationship stands out in the “hot, white room” of the hospital that is mentioned earlier in the poem. Extended imagery helps to establish how the love between the mother and daughter is unconditional and constant despite any conflict, unlike the relationship between the maiden and the lord in “Cousin Kate” where the persona is just tossed aside when a prettier woman comes along.…

Henry David Thoreau, a philosopher from the nineteenth century, wrote about the contradictory relationship between citizens who behave morally and governments who rule immorally. In his speech, Civil Disobedience, he stated, “Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also a prison” to convey that governments, rather than individuals, decide whether behavior is lawful or punishable (para. 22). This statement expresses that people should evaluate someone’s imprisonment in the context of their government’s rules without making the assumption that all prisoners are convicted based on universal and justified standards.
