1. What problems can you see in the way project managers were assigned in the past?
In the past there was not given enough emphasis on project management.
a. Project managers were only involved insufficiently because they were only involved after the sales department had signed the contract.
b. Anyone can be assigned as a project leader. Therefore, not everybody of the company has proper knowledge or enough experience, which leads to wrong decisions.
c. Also trainees could perform as project managers.
d. Many project managers were overloaded because they were assigned to too many projects.

2. Will the new approach taken in 2007 put the company on a path to excellence in project management?
Yes, the new approach will at least tackle the current problems of the company and step by step lead to excellence in project management.
a. The first reason is that involvement of project managers is increased to a greater extent. The will be involved right from the beginning and not only after the contract is signed.
b. Another reason that the project managers were carefully chosen. Not anyone could become a project manager because they were examined and professionally recruited.
c. More emphasis is now placed on project management which leads to more good quality work in less time.
