Cast Away And Lord Of The Flies Comparison Essay

“Maybe there is a beast...What I mean is... maybe it’s only us.” In Lord Of The Flies the boy turned savage just the same as Allie did in Mosquito Coast and Chuck in Cast Away. Everything goes wrong in all of these pieces of literature. Mosquito Coast is more different than alike than Lord Of The Flies and Cast Away.

Cast Away and Lord Of The Flies have many things in common. To both the boys and Chuck fire saved their lives by providing food for them both and rescue for the boys. Chuck when down in a plane crash just like Ralph and the other kids did and the plane was lost in the ocean. Lord Of The Flies and Cast Away both took place on an island with mountains and some kind of forest. One main difference was the time period they took place in, Cast Away was more modern and Lord Of The Flies took place in a world war. At some place in the time they were on the island they develop health problems of some sort.

Cast Away and Mosquito Coast are different in more ways than they are similar. Chuck would give anything to be back in America but Allie gave everything to leave. Chuck uses fire as a source of life and stays alive. Allie wants to make ice from fire, “Ice is civilization.” They both end up
Lord Of The Flies takes place on an island in the Pacific ocean with a dark and a light side. Mosquito Coast takes place on the coast of Africa with a forest and a river surrounding Jeronimo. The main thing that makes them similar is that they turn savage and at least one person dies. Mosquito Coast is set more modern than Lord Of The Flies being in a time of world war. Allie and his team work together on the houses and all of the other construction projects whereas only Ralph and Simon work on the shelters for the whole group of boys.
