Case Study Sesodyne Pronamel
Critical Review
“A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them.”
-Steve Jobs (As quoted in BusinessWeek, 25 May 1998)
Sensodyne Pronamel was a toothpaste designed to protect the teeth from acid wear. Acid Wear is the remineralization of the enamel that buffers away the protective coating of the teeth (Khan and Young, 2011). Acid wear leads to numerous complications for the teeth including teeth sensitivity and inflammation (Lussi and Ganss, 2014). However, people were not aware that the sudden chill they felt in their teeth was due to a tooth problem rather than a food problem. Moreover, there was no exposure to this situation or the solution. The terrifying problem with acid wear is the inability to identify the

As a group of opinionated individuals, we adopted a mixed management style of democratic and laissez-faire. Our strategy entailed each of us to thoroughly understand the case study. The questions were divided amongst the team members. By doing so, we assumed to have a 360-view of each sub-topic. The information collected by each member was reviewed by all to ensure correlation in the topics. The final presentation was collated by two members who had strong knowledge in computer applications. And all of us focused on our parts during the presentation. As a group, each of us was able to learn more about the topic and our strengths and weaknesses. Likewise, we were able to support, encourage and have mutual respect for each other’s …show more content…

The report includes a secondary research through scholarly and professional articles about the health benefits of using natural care products and health risk of using other dental hygiene products, and how we can make the switch to natural products. Also included are the results of primary research through a survey (with a sample of people aged between 18 and 35 years old) about their oral care products. The results of this survey were that the majority of these people use several oral care products on a daily basis, and would prefer to use natural products to chemical-based oral products. In order to start introducing Tom’s of Maine oral care products to our patients, we will need to educate our staff and patients about the company’s mission and products, and the importance to switch to a natural alternative.…

Teeth health is very important to the well-being of humans. When the health of teeth fails, problems ensue in the rest of the body. Pain, heart and respiratory problems, and osteoporosis are some of the problems endured due to improper maintenance of teeth. Studies from the World Health Organization (WHO) reveal that “dental carries remain a major public health problem in most industrialized countries, affecting 60-90% of school children and vast majorities of adults” (Peterson, 319). Since so many people are affected by dental carries, many people are also susceptible to the more severe health defects that tooth decay contributes to. The WHO also stresses that the community if responsible for educating themselves and others about the importance of limiting sugar…

Research conducted by periodontists from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine shows that patients with long-term post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), showed significant erosion of tooth surfaces. A group of 40 PTSD patients who had been diagnosed with 100 percent disability, were taken from the VA Medical Center and compared to a group of patients that did not have the disorder. The patients with PTSD had significantly more tooth plaque and gingivitis. Doctors suspect that this could be caused because of their illness, the patients are unable to carry out good oral hygiene compared to the non-PTSD patients. Also the PTSD patients were found to suffer from bruxism and clenching which can be related to extra daily stress they feel. Participants received an oral examination and evaluation of tooth wear. Results showed significantly increased wear of…

    Adaption vs. Standardisation

    • 11326 Words
    • 46 Pages

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to position multinational companies on a linear continuum indicating their overall attitude towards standardisation/adaptation, examines the reasons influencing multinational companies’ tactical (7Ps – marketing mix) behaviour towards it, and finally presents the underlying managerial implications of the results. Design/methodology/approach – A rating scale Rasch model is used in order to place the multinational companies’ attitude towards standardisation and adaptation on a linear continuum. Structural equation modelling is subsequently used in order to investigate the relationship between the adaptation and standardisation variable against other variables. An extensive literature review is also undertaken to provide the theoretical foundation. Findings – The paper corroborates the findings of past research by placing multinational companies on a linear continuum; by identifying their overall attitude towards adaptation/standardization; and by describing the relationship between AdaptStand and other variables. Furthermore, it categorises the reasons pulling towards adaptation or standardisation into “significant” and “peripheral”; and provides valuable insights towards practical application. Practical implications – The paper provides marketing researchers and practitioners with an overview of the main factors that influence marketing tactical…
