Carter And Dunning Critical Analysis
A Critical Review of Carter and Dunning, 2008, Faulty Self-Assessment: Why Evaluating One’s Own Competence Is an Intrinsically Difficult Task, Social and Personality Psychology Compass 2/1: 346-360.
‘‘Know yourself. Don’t accept your dog’s admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful’’, as the saying of Ann Landers (American advice columnist)goes on, Carter and Dunning (2008, p.346) wrote an article on faulty self-assessment and the reasons behind the difficulties in evaluating an individual’s own competence. This essay aimed to provide a critical aspect on the task of judging one’s self correctly. However, the main point of this article is mostly about the failure of recognizing one’s true competence (Carter & Dunning, 2008).
