For the past four years Trinity University has molded me into the woman that I am today. Overcoming my weaknesses, and turning them into my strengths have lead me to many achievements, and for that I feel comfortable walking across the stage and claiming the degree I’ve worked hard for. With the tools and resources that Trinity has provided for me, I am ready to continue my career path as a financial advisor, and the initial steps that’ll enable me for future success. As a student at Trinity, I have accomplished many achievements. Working hard in every course I took help me develop many skills such as studying habits, writing, and speaking. Because I worked hard in strengthening my skills, I was able to maintain my academic scholarship, and stay on the Dean’s List for three consecutive years. With this accomplishment, not only did it help me get through my upper level classes, but these skills have stayed with me, t preparing me for my profession. As a freshman in college I had many weaknesses two of them being speaking and writing. When I gave presentations, I use to stutter a lot, and used low level of vocabulary; my thoughts and ideas were everywhere and unclear, I was able to work on this by reading extensively through text books, and newspapers, and as well practice speaking in front of my peers to help me present better. Because I couldn’t speak properly, I wasn’t able to write either, utilizing the writing center; I would go there for every writing assignment for critique, and feedback as to what I should improve on in my writing. With constant feedback, my writing improved. Overcoming these weaknesses started to transition over to strengths. Now being a senior, I am able to speak in front of great numbers of people without being nervous, and being able to use broader vocabulary. With that instilled in me, I am also able to write a strong paper that may need minimal editing to it compared to the lengthy editing I endured coming in as a freshman. When you start to get stronger in skills there is always room for improvement. As my speaking improved over the years, I’ve notice now that I still need work on the minor flaws, such as organizing my ideas and being able to relay my thoughts to the audience in a clear cohesive manner, this goes along with my writing as well. Being able to organize my thoughts when writing a research paper can be my downfall at times, because I don’t include correct in text citation at times, and I usually summarize the facts without following it up with evidence from the source. The way I improve this is to continue attending the writing center and receiving feedback from the editor, by which he shows me the proper way to cite my sources. With the experience I’ve gone through, I can definitely be able to give advice to incoming freshmen, one, by informing them to always utilize the sources provided by Trinity, such as the writing center, and to take advantage of one on one help from their professors, which is always a plus. With the resources that Trinity offers me as a student I feel that I can continue to pursue my potential career path as a Financial Advisor. A Financial Advisor earns a living by helping people sort through and choose investments, insurance and other financial products. Being a Financial Advisor I feel is a position that entails so many ways of helping people with their finances such as retirement planning,...
