Introduction

Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. It is usually of plant or animal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals. The substance is ingested by an organism and assimilated by the organism's cells in an effort to produce energy, maintain life, or stimulate growth. Today, most of the food energy consumed by the world is supplied by the food industry.

Most common food that people consume is bread. Bread is a staple food prepared by cooking a dough of flour and water and often additional ingredients. Doughs are usually baked, but in some cuisines breads are steamed (e.g., mantou), fried (e.g., puri), or baked on an unoiled frying pan (e.g., tortillas). It may be leavened or unleavened (e.g. matzo). Salt, fat and leavening agents such as yeast and baking soda are common ingredients, though bread may contain other ingredients, such as milk, egg, sugar, spice, fruit (such as raisins), vegetables (such as onion), nuts (such as walnuts) or seeds (such as poppy).

In addition for the freshly baked bread is the spread for it to be more appetizing. One kind of spread is the jam. Popularly known in the Philippines is the Coco Jam. It is made from a base of coconut and sugar.

In line with this, my proposed product “calamansi jam” is of the same kind with coconut jam and their only difference is the usage of calamansi instead of coconut base.

Cajeta is overall better than Caramel health and taste wise. Cajeta is a Mexican confection of thickened syrup made with goat’s milk that is either put in a bottle or made into lollipops or obleas. Cajeta is made with goat milk while caramel is made with cow milk. Cajeta is a bit thicker than caramel is, but that makes it easier to spread on pancakes and bread. Cajeta is also made with cinnamon and not just sugar. Cajeta also has no cholesterol in it. Cajeta is a better version of caramel just like Mexican coke is to American coke.…

Today’s America is fast paced, always moving with no time to relax and enjoy a well-thought out meal. With a plethora of fast-food joints lining each and every corner of our world, it is much easier and cheaper to settle for a combo at McDonald’s than a buttered-up, baked, lemon salmon with an arugula salad. The joy and happiness of gathering and sharing a meal has been abruptly transformed into a quick fix for hunger, no matter the consequence.…

I got to admit, if given the chance to choose between rice, pasta or bread, I would definitely go for pasta any day. This is also the reason why I tend to be extra picky with the type of breads that I eat. I love freshly baked pan de sal paired with a spoonful of peanut butter and a cup of hot cocoa. Soft and fluffy ciabatta bread has been my favorite when I'm making myself a sandwich. As for the type of breads that I avoid, these are ones with raisins, dates or the fruity type. I really do not know why but I always end up plucking each tiny fruit out before biting into the bread.…
