Cadillac Records is a historical movie that came out in December of 2008, captivating the events of Chess Records. The movie stars Adrien Brody, Beyonce Knowles-Carter, and Jeffrey Wright playing the creator of the record label, and two of the main artists apart of Chess Records. The movie grossed a total 8.8 million, with a budget of 12 million, and went on to be nominated for three Grammy awards, and one Golden Globe, winning the Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance Grammy award for Beyonce's performance in the song At Last. With such a stellar performance of the song, the singer-songwriter was later asked to perform at the 2009 Inauguration Ball for President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama to dance to. The name Cadillac Records comes from the owner of the record label, Leonard Chess buying all of his musicians Cadillacs once the label becomes prosperous. The beginning of the movie starts with Leonard Chess building his dance club, and his wife is quite weary about it because of their current monetary issues at the time.
