Business Personalities
Topic: In his classic book, The E-Myth, Michael Gerber famously proposed that there are three business personalities behind every start-up:the entrepreneur, the manager and the technician. Which of these roles resemble you the most? Explain why you chose your answer and what characteristics fit this personality? Feel free to use real life examples. The entrepreneur, manager, and technician are titles that generally describe the depth of one’s responsibilities within a business. The entrepreneur works to drive a company to achievement of its mission statement. His or her vision extends beyond daily operations, as this individual looks at long term direction of the business and its whole impact on society. A manager is responsible for ensuring efficiency and productivity from the employees under his or her command. Managing production schedules and acquiring skilled workers to lessen costs and increase profitability are tasks common to the manager. Finally, the technician describes a worker with the skill to produce the end product. These individuals have the technical expertise to create and build, but rarely participate in company decision making. While every individual possesses qualities from each of the 3 business personalities, many are more prone to a single personality type, depending on their personality and skills. The personality I would use to describe my own work habits vary on the task at hand, but are predominantly managing orientated. Early in college, I would satisfy my recreational urges using various software based tools. I was intrigued by the limitless potential found in programs such as Photoshop, Flash, among others that enabled a user to create organic works of art and animation. I learned basic operational skills to operate the software, creating many projects that featured humor and whimsy. However, I realized my basic software skill had limited the possibilities of what I could produce and animate. Although I knew my creative ideas

According to Robbins and Judge (2011), Managers get things done through other people. As simplistic as that may sound, this singular function encompasses various functions that require an individual to utilize multiple skills and act in numerous roles. Henri Fayol breaks the managerial function down into 4 major categories; planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. As a manager steps into each of these functions, he/she must take on one of the 2 role categories that are defined by Henry Mintzberg. The interpersonal role which encompasses functions such as being the symbolic face of the organization, maintaining ties with people outside of the organization to gather information and forming a vision for the organization that motivates the employees. The informational role which includes activities wherein the individual monitors information, digests it and disseminates it within and without the organization. And finally the decisional role wherein the individual makes decision regarding the resource allocation, long-term planning organization and dispute resolution. In this paper I will examine 2 distinct organizations, one…

Consultant & Advisor has introduced me *******, their top management consultant, to look over the case of Catherine Follis of Dunston Vierra Ltd, and what I’ve discovered to be the main issue in this case is Ms. Follis’ new born baby being brought to her place of work. I have also learned of the various other factors in the situation, including the office space Ms. Follis is willing to renovate and pay rent for, the majority of female employees this company has in that division, as well as the valuable clients of Ms. Follis that need to be accounted for. The apparent problems of this ordeal consist of; the amount of time Ms. Follis would need to take out of her schedule to prepare the nursery, the physical distractions towards the other employees, and the constant running back and forth of Ms. Follis to nurse her child distracting her from her work or possibly leaving a meeting. From what I’ve covered thus far, the main problem seems to be the sheer amount of time Catherine and her fellow employees would spend with the child. Thus wasting valuable time and essentially costing more money to keep Catherine than to have her stay on maternity leave.…

In my quest for passion, I often bite off more than I can chew. I want to create, whether it be photographs, art, or music. I enjoyed that class so much it made me rethink my career path and my degree plan. I have over three years’ experience with Maya and knowledge of character rigging and animation as well as scripting with MEL. I have written many baseline tools to assist in helping animations run smoothly. Keeping character and environment models clean and ready for work, is a practice I hold in high regard. I am a strong believer in getting work done before the deadline and allowing enough time to make sure work is done properly. Finding new solutions to help the artists create their best possible work while maintaining a timeline is something I practice when creating my own art. Creating strong designs and animations is something I strive for in my work as an artist, but my true passion is programming. I want to break the barrier between the artist and the programmer and successfully mesh the two. I believe I will find my calling as a technical artist with Telltale Games.…

One of my goals was having the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Engineering Academy. Throughout the physical processes in working with machines, welding and soldering, I have thoroughly enjoyed the designing and creative development of each engineering project. Art has taken me to a world of exploration uncovering hidden talents that I did not know I had that I now want to express rather than hide, which I have been doing all of my life with each tic. Recently, I chose to take a Visual Effects summer course at a local community college. My friends thought I was CRAZY. They asked “Why would you want to spend 3 hours every day in a classroom instead of going to the beach?” My answer was simple, “because I want to learn something new that will amaze me!” Of course, I was mesmerized working with Maya software, creating the shortest videos that had the most everlasting impression on me; it reinforced my desire for a career in the digital arts…

Realistically, it was not until high school where I selectively decided digital media would quickly become my main area of technological interest. This was a field which allowed further exploration of my interest in drawing, pattern design, and typography through the use of programs ranging from Adobe Illustrator to Photoshop.…
