The burrito or taco de harina is a Mexican dish that consists of a grilled or steamed flourtortilla filled with a combination of ingredients that may include salsa, Pico de Gallo, re-fried beans, rice, meat, seafood, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and lettuce. Burritos are one of the easiest Mexican recipes to make at home. The burrito is a traditional food in the city of Juarez in northern Mexico. Burritos in Mexico are made thin and small and are made with only one or two ingredients. Burritos in theUnited States are bigger and stuffed with multiple ingredients centered around a meat or vegetable. Burritos are also served wet, covered in a red or green chile sauce and topped with shredded cheese. the California burrito is an invention of Southern California where I currently reside.  It is basically carne asada (grilled steak), guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and french fries wrapped inside a lightly fried tortilla.  If I trust the taqueria, I will order carnitas (grilled pork) instead of carne asada. The city of San Francisco is known for large Mission-style burritos that started in the Mission District in the 1960s. Many American restaurants have adapted burritos formorning meals, called Breakfast Burritos, they often include, eggs, bacon, ham and other savory breakfast items.

The flour tortilla is usually lightly grilled or steamed, to soften it and make it more pliable. In Mexico, meat and refried beans are sometimes the only fillings. In the United States, burrito fillings generally include a combination of ingredients such as Mexican-style rice or plain rice, refried beans or beans, lettuce, meat, cheese, and sour cream, and the size varies. Typically, American-style burritos are stuffed with more ingredients than the primary meat and/or vegetable filling.\ History
