Burj Khalifa History : Burj Khalifa was designed to be the centerpiece of a large-scale, mixed-use development which would include 30,000 homes, nine hotels (the Address Downtown Dubai included), 3 hectares or 7.4 acres of parkland, at least 19 residential towers, the Dubai Mall, and the 12-hectare or 30-acre man-made Burj Khalifa Lake..

Location : The building officially opened on 4 January 2010,[1][9] and is part of the new 2 km2 (490-acre) development called Downtown Dubai at the 'First Interchange' along Sheikh Zayed Road, near Dubai's main business district. The tower's architecture and engineering were performed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill of Chicago, with Adrian Smith as chief architect, and Bill Baker as chief structural engineer.The primary contractor was Samsung C&T of South Korea.

Why it's interesting :

The Burj Khalifa is not only an incredible building, but it is also an example of international cooperation and proof of the growth of Dubai. It holds residencies, corporate suites, The Armani Hotel, offices and The Sky Lobby (a lobby located on the 123rd floor that features a panoramic view from the worlds tallest building). The cutting edge technology features throughout the building make this one of the hot spots around the world for major corperations. Because the building is such a major achievement, it acts as a source of inspiration to all of the people surrounding it. Also , it helps to raise the economy of the country by attracting a lot of tourism from around the world .
