Bullying Vs Cyberbullying
“1 in 5 people are or have been a bully or bullied’ according to “Meet the New Sheriff.” That way too many. In my opinion, when there is a bully, victim, and a bystander the bully can do the worst damage! Either if it is done physically, verbally, or even exclusion it is very harmful to the victim. Bullies can hurt people very badly. The victim is like a wounded soldier in a battle field with nowhere to go! First of all there is so much a bully can do that a bystander can’t. Bystanders are just bystanders, and they aren’t the ones doing or doing the things to the victim. According to “Tales of Bullying” bullies bully people on the computer. That is called cyber bullying, and it is getting to a greater degree by the second. “tales of Bullying’ also talked about physically bullying it is when somebody touches somebody touches somebody else. …show more content…
They can take it out on the victim. It might surprise you, but most bullies have been bullied! After all the bullying they faced they take it out on the other people around them. Some bullies feel like they aren’t safe in their normal lives, so order to make their self-fell safe they hurt other people. Well you might say “Well bystanders just sit there and watch other people get hurt.” Well you need to think that in a normal case people don’t see it happen, because they just don’t watch and listen to what is going on around them. Can you agree with me now? Out of the bully, the victim, and the bystander the bully is the most hurtful in many ways, and it is way too many people for 1 in 5 people to be bullied or a bully. Before in this argument I said that bullies can do so much more than bystanders, and so many times there can’t be bystanders! Let’s not forget that bullies can have problems too, and they can take it out on other people! Let’s stand up to bullies and stop them! Once and for all they will be

W.E Jacobs and Maureen McMahon in their article “Counterpoint: School Children Should Learn to Defend Themselves against Bullies” from the Points of Reference Center expresses why they believe that children should be able to defend themselves from bullies. Jacobs and McMahon argue that bullying is everywhere and has two aspects which is the victim that is supposed to act a certain way to the bully and the bully who shows the aggression. Most of the bullying going on now a days has to do with children, mostly in schools or on social networking. Many people do want to stop this such as teachers and parents but they are unable to because it doesn’t happen around them (Jacobs and McMahon np).…

Bullying has become an epidemic, and it needs to come to an end. If people will stand up for each other and protect each other, I believe bullying would cease to be effective. It preys on those who do not have the confidence to defend themselves. Often times, the bully hurts others as a way of protecting himself. He believes that if he attacks others, then they will not know he himself is hurting, or has been hurt in the past. It becomes a coping mechanism for him. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that bullying should not be responded to with more violence. They need to be shown love, but firm love. A love that says, “I love you enough to not let you continue down this path. Let me show you another way.” Then you are not only l protecting those that the bully hurts, but also you are protecting the bully himself in the long run.…

The sad thing is that every 1 in 7 students in each grade are either a bully or has been a victim of bullying. No one has the right to think they anyone is lesser than them. No one has the right to put anyone down. The only way we can deal with bullies is to stand up to them, show them that the way they are treating others is unacceptable, and needs to be changed. Every day, somewhere in the world, someone is getting bullied and it’s your choice whether or not to do something about it. Most people choose to stay out of harm’s way if they’re not the one getting bullied and few people choose to stand up for themselves if they are the one bullied. I believe that helping or asking for help is the only way to solve a bullying problem. The reason why people choose not to say anything is because they’re scared of what might happen. The “consequence” of telling on someone is what most people think about first, so why put yourself in a place where you don’t need to be right? If it’s not your problem then it’s not a problem to you at all? These thoughts are the reasons why bullying is never stopped.…

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt… “ That statement couldn’t be further from the truth. How often have someone implied that words are meaningless and couldn’t possibly be hurt by them? “You’re stupid; you’re ugly; nobody likes you” are words most bullied victims may hear on a regular basis, words that can permeate through ones psyche emotionally, ones that can... well hurt. When we hear of someone being bullied, a normal humane reaction is to gravitate towards the victim and there is nothing wrong with that. Bullying is immoral, its indecorous, simply put – bullying is just mean. However, no one ever takes into consideration that bullies too might be victims, perhaps a victim of circumstance, of life or abuse. This is not to suggest that bullying is a suitable approach to coping with life’s challenges; unfortunately for some, it can be a defense mechanism.…

Direct bullying is a tough situation for a bystander because it requires them to act under pressure, and fairly quickly. Whereas Cyber bullying gives a bystander many options on how to react. For example they can disagree with the comments being made, encourage friends to log in and do the same, or report what they have seen to the site security team. Of course they risk the bully turning around and doing the same thing to them, but it all comes down to what you are willing to do for another person.…

People hear the word class bully and the majority think of kids fist fighting in the schoolyard, or the mean kid taking lunch money from those they can push around, but this abusive behavior is far more severe than the fist fighting in the schoolyard, or the lunch money being taken from a classmate. This type of behavior has become more aggressive and dangerous than it was twenty years ago. We as adults need to change the perception that bullying at school is a part of life and those victims just need to toughen up. This behavior starts at home; therefore, it must be stopped at home.…
