Bullying Should Be Taught In Schools
Imagine going to school and just praying to make it through the day without being picked on again. You haven’t even made it to Christmas break and you’re already miserable. You can’t concentrate on your schoolwork, you have trouble sleeping at night, and you are always depressed. According to the American Psychological Association, this is a reality for 40-80% of school aged children. Bullying is a major problem in America and it needs to be stopped.
Bullying is not always hitting someone. According to stopbullying.com, bullying is “any unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Bullying includes

Others are afraid that the bully will get even with them. According to popcenter.com, some of the reasons for not reporting bullying are: fearing retaliation, feeling shame at not being able to stand up for themselves, fearing they would not be believed, not wanting to worry their parents, having no confidence that anything would change as a result, thinking their parents ' or teacher 's advice would make the problem worse, fearing their teacher would tell the bully who told on him or her, and thinking it was worse to be thought of as a snitch. (Bullying in Schools, 2002) Bullying is a serious problem that can have negative effects on the entire school environment. Children who are victims of bullies as well as children who engage in bullying behavior can have lifelong problems to overcome. Teachers and other adults can lose the respect of the children that they are around and have a hard time earning the respect of the children in their care. As a parent and a former victim of bullying, I am committed to doing what I can to stop and prevent bullying. I hope you will join
