Midterm Exam Facts
 The midterm exam covers everything covered in the course up to the mid-point of stocks. That is, everything up to and including page
8.3.21 in chapter 8 of CFO. (i.e., CFO Chapters 1, 3, 4, 7 and first part of 8.) Of course, short-term financing is also included. Both the supplemental reading (in document sharing) and LO5 in Chapter 15.
 The topic break-down by number of marks is (approximately): 8% markets and institutions; 13% annuities; 19% loans; 9% short-term financing; 32% bonds; and 19% stocks.
 The midterm exam is multiple choice
 The midterm exam is 2 hours long
 The midterm exam has four sections. Section 1 includes 10 questions about the instructions (worth 0.1 marks each). Section 2 has 15 conceptual questions (including simple calculations) worth 1 mark each. Section 3 has 12 short numeric questions worth 2 marks each.
Section 4 has 6 long numeric questions worth 3 marks each.
 The questions vary in difficulty level. The longer questions are more difficult.  Prepare for the midterm by reading the chapters, looking at examples, watching videos, completing self-test problems and completing problems (aka homework). Don’t forget to read the supplementary readings (under Document Sharing) and practice the supplementary problems in the same location.
 The formula sheet is available under Document Sharing. (You don’t need to bring it with you.)
 As usual, you should carry enough decimal points in your calculations so that you get an accurate number to pennies.

 Calculators (including graphing and financial calculators) are allowed in the exam. Nothing with a keyboard. No smart phones (leave them in your bag).
 Bring your student id card to the mid-term exam. (And some pencils and a calculator.)
