Breaking The Drinking Age
Underage drinking has been a major issue in the United States and can be severely solved by just simply lowering the drinking age by 3 years and will drastically reduce the thrill of breaking the law for teanegers. Teenagers are rebellious and know it if the drinking age were 18 they would not consider breaking the law because there is no fun if the law were to get lowered. Reducing the law will also stop the manufacturing of false id where teenagers deliberately disrespect the law. The high drinking age is also very difficult and embarrassing for cashiers which in some cases they are required to ID even the elderly because their jobs requires them to do so. Some people argue that having a low drinking age may risk a person's life because their body has not fully developed while it is true the country should have drinking laws like Germany where a person must be 13 to drink low alcohol products such as beer or wine with a parent’s consent and 16 without a parent and 18 to drink high alcoholic products such as rum or whisky according to the New York Times author Gabrielle Glaser. Not lowering the age limit will cause more rebellious teens because they enjoy the thrill of breaking the law and will stop people that are allowed to buy alcohol stop buying it for underage teens and will stop the illegal business of counterfeit IDs.
