The book Seal Team Six Memoirs of an Elite Navy Seal Sniper is a look at Seal Team Six. A Seal is the Navy’s elite group of Special Forces. This book is written by Howard E. Wasdin who was in Seal Team Six and Stephen Templin. The reason for writing this book is to inform people of what it is like to be a Navy Seal and how Howard E. Wasdin was born to be one. In this book Howard tells the reader about his life from childhood to BUD’s (basic underwater demolition) to sniper school to the battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. The theme of this book is how someone becomes a Seal. The thesis is that not everybody is born to be a seal and if you are treated like the author you will not have any better chances.…

In the fiction resource, Tom Crocker and his team are sent to Europe first, then the Middle East, to halt the operations of a kidnapping ring, who has captured his wife, lead by a certain sheikh. The book, American Sniper, by Chris Kyle is an informative story of the life of Kyle and the delimas he went through in and out of the war. Kyle was extremely effective in showing the reader what the life of a Navy SEAL was like, both what he went through while at war and the controversies he went through out of service. The authors main point of writing the novel is to show everyone a SEAL’s point of view of war, instead of the “propaganda” seen on the news. Kyle shows the main points of the book by establishing his own credibility, showing the purpose behind novel, and defining his tone toward the subject.…

There are many things standing in ones way of prevailing. The most important thing to remember is that having worthy character traits such as the will to survive and courage will bring you through those obstacles. In the face of adversity, moral character causes some people to prevail while others fail.…

The book that has had the most influence on me is called, A Quaker Book of Wisdom, by Robert Lawrence Smith. In my freshman year I was enrolled in a class called the History of Peace. The book was an optional part of the reading list. I will admit I didn’t read it that year, but when I cleaned out my locker, it was sitting there in a stack of books and I felt compelled to read it. Robert Lawrence Smith was a former headmaster of Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. What I enjoyed about the book was that it was not preachy or religious or even theoretical. The book was very practical and offered specific examples in the author’s life when he was in conflict, and how he utilized Quaker principles and values to better understand how…
