Book Review „The Notebook“ by Nicholas Sparks

An old man reads to a woman, who has Alzheimer’s disease, a story in a retirement home:
Noah returns from World War 2 to his town in North Carolina. He sees his old girlfriend, Allie, again after a 14-year separation. It brings back many memories and strong emotions in both of them. Noah has written Allie letters every day, but she has not received them.
Allie is engaged to another man now, but realizes that the original passion she felt for Noah has not dimmed during all the years.

So begins this touching novel that describes an unconditional love lost and found. Romantic relationships can inspire one to write such an incredible story. This is what happened to Nicholas Sparks, an American author who was inspired by his wife’s grandparent’s love life, who have been married for about 67 years and are still in love with each other. Sparks was so amazed by their enduring love life, that he wrote a tender love story entitled “The Notebook” in 1994 at the age of 28 over a period of six months. “The Notebook” was sold to Warner Books and was published in October 1996. He wished that by writing down this love story, his readers would believe in true love and give second chances at love in their lifetime. The novel also encourages the reader to realize how important their beloved ones are in life.
Nicholas Sparks uses detail that makes you imagine everything as if you were there. He focuses on characters’ thoughts and feelings. “The Notebook” is number one of the New York Times bestsellers. Sparks has also written “Safe Haven,” “The Lucky One,” and “The Best of Me.” All of his novels deal with love and look at a different perspective of love.
If you were disappointed by the movie, read the book and get the real story. The book captures your attention and keeps you guessing what will happen next, but the ending is not what you

    * Nicholas Sparks’ Safe Haven depicts true love in quite a complicated form. The speaker uses the characters’ relationships combined with situational irony to create a very suspenseful tone. Katie, the protagonist of the story, has fled to Southport and no one knows her or why she‘s there. As she begins a relationship with Alex, a local store owner, both the reader and other characters in the book learn her difficult past.…

Revelations about the book's origin have been a cause of doubt as to its authenticity and factual accounts, and the publishers have listed it as a work of fiction since at least the mid-late 1980s. Although it is still published under the byline "Anonymous", it is largely or wholly the work of its purported editor, Beatrice Sparks. Some of the days and dates referenced in the book put the timeline from 1968 until 1970. Its major themes would be difficulty of communication and problems of adolescent identity. It is written a series of events in the form of multiple diary entries.…
