Black Friday: The Issues With Black Friday

It has come to my attention, and I hope yours, that Black Friday has spiraled out of control. In every store people are getting hurt, lost, sleep deprived and robbed of their holiday. Your workers have to sacrifice their holiday to set up for Black Friday just to watch it get destroyed and then have to set it up once again. Workers are trampled by people trying to get through the doors to your sale items as are your customers. Fights break out over items and people forget how to be civil human beings. There are news stories of people dying who are customers and workers, fatal car accidents while driving home, and people in attendance being stabbed or shot over Black Friday items. The madness gets worse each year as more people go out for goods and the sales get better as well as the advertisements for the sales. The question is, when does it end?

Now it would be unrealistic to cancel Black Friday altogether; I know stores wouldn’t do that and shoppers wouldn’t be too thrilled with that idea either. So I have an idea that might help to ease the violence, traffic jams, and mess for workers and shoppers alike. It could
Barber wrote an article called “Black Friday…Gray Thursday.” Many people have issues with Black Friday because it is taking over Thanksgiving; Barber addresses this in his writing and tells a tale of corporate greed that fuels Black Friday, but I don’t think that’s the whole story. Consumers fuel it and they are the ones that create the dangerous situations and excessive actions, but corporations like yours add to is as well with the crazy hours and sales, it drives people to extremes and makes they forget about Thanksgiving.

Everybody deserves to spend Thanksgiving at home and not preparing for the mad house that will commence at midnight. I ask you to consider my proposal or to come up with your own that will improve the conditions of Black Friday and change it to a safer and more manageable day for everyone.
