Beowulf Vs Spiderman Essay
Being a hero means you have amazing achievements, people look up to you, you are brave. Beowulf is a good example of an epic hero. One of my favorite similar epic hero is Spiderman because they resemble each other in different ways. Beowulf and Spiderman are two heroic figures that show Courage and Bravery, Selflessness, and they both care in some kind of way.
Let’s start by comparing how they both have courage and are very brave. Beowulf, he risked his own life to defeat the fearful dragon (White). Beowulf cut off his arm while fighting the dragon just because the dragon about killed people of heroet and Beowulf was not going to allow that to happen. He also shows courage through his faith and gratitude. Spiderman he stood in the way of danger

Beowulf, he was the kind of hero that thought more about his men and others than he thought about himself (Beowulf). Even when he became older and weak he still fought harder than anyone could ever imagine. Spiderman on the other hand shows his selflessness to his aunt and loved ones (Superhero hype). When his Aunt May is slowly dying he gets the antidote from Doctor Octopus to cure her because that was someone that meant a lot to him and made him want to continue to save more lives on down in the future. (Superhero hype). Therefore it shows Beowulf and Spiderman is more concerned more about others than themselves.
Last but not least Beowulf and Spiderman care about what they do and who they do it for. Beowulf scarified his own life so that his people could live peacefully again (White). He also fights for those who are not his people, but he fights as if the people of Herot were his own (White). Spiderman he saves lives on a daily basis because he cares about others around him (Scott). He would always treat his aunt and uncle with respect, making sure he would never be a burden to them (Scott). Even though they go through it all there may be a back story behind them but they still care in some kind of

Everyone has their own version of what a hero is, in the case of Burton Raffel’s, Beowulf, and William Shakespeare’s, Macbeth, their concepts of a hero compare quite well. Raffel’s famous tale, Beowulf, is about Beowulf himself, who is a courageous fighter, willing to fight monsters to protect everyone else, though to make a name for himself. Shakespeare’s Macbeth, is about a brave warrior who goes from a hero in battle, to a hero for simply his own good. Beowulf is portrayed as an epic hero whereas Macbeth is distinguished as a tragic hero. The two characters share the similarities of being brave and being prideful. Although these men have common traits of a hero, the one major difference is who they attempt to take down; Beowulf murders horrendous,…

Throughout the ages of literature, one type of story is particularly popular and ancient. This is the story of the hero--a brave, courageous individual “who is admired for his or her outstanding achievements and noble qualities.” Often, they are depicted as a person who saves lives or risks everything for others. Such is the case for both of the heroes I will be comparing and contrasting. One hero is the epic Anglo-Saxon warrior Beowulf, a man who slayed demons and saved a kingdom from certain doom. The other is a humble knight clad in green by the name of Link. Link is the main character in "The Legend of Zelda" series, and experienced reincarnations throughout the many games. For this…

Beowulf is physically stronger than Gru. Gru uses weapons, which makes him more powerful, whereas, Beowulf uses the strength from his body to accomplish the mission. After all, Gru is more efficient to get his missions done by creating weapons for specific tasks. Although Beowulf is physically stronger than his counterpart, Gru has weapons that makes him more heroic because he can complete several more tasks than Beowulf. Gru has the support of his family…

Both were oriented towards getting glory. Beowulf defeated Grendel and Grendel’s mother while Achilles avenged Patroclus. They both could’ve faced death, but risked it anyway. A quote from “Beowulf” says, “Often, for undaunted courage, fate spares the man it has not already marked. (572-573)” This is saying that if you have this courage and faith, then you will not be defeated. As epic heroes, they both have all the qualities of proving that they are. All throughout history there have been many different interpretations on what traits a real hero holds; the Anglo-Saxon era and modern day history seem to hold quite a few similarities. Beowulf, a definite characterization of the Anglo-Saxon idea of true heroism, can easily be compared to a modern-day lionheart: my grandfather. Both hold the basic principles of being significantly glorified, holding a high moral standing, and possessing integrity, strength, and responsibility when leading others. Both are incredibly influential and important to those around them.…

Beowulf is the epic hero from the Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf, written by an unknown poet. Achilles is the epic hero from the Greek poem The Iliad, written by Homer. Beowulf details a Geat warrior who travels overseas to rescue a tribe called the Danes from two ferocious and murderous monsters, and The Iliad details a warrior who battles an enemy during the time of the Trojan War. Beowulf and Achilles are both headstrong and resilient warriors who, in the stories in which they were created, perfectly embody heroism as well as their cultures. While Beowulf and Achilles both have their fair share of favorable and unfavorable characteristics, Beowulf would be a much better fit for modern times.…

While Beowulf has positive pride, Achilles has negative pride. Beowulf is proud of his accomplishments, but does not think highly of himself. Achilles thinks he is the best and is too proud for his own good. He endangers others in the war out of his pride. They lose many men and Patroclus because of his tragic flaw. They are both well-known warriors, but Beowulf is justified in his killing while Achilles is not. Beowulf killed to protect and Achilles killed out of revenge and hatred. They are both superhuman too, with both being unnaturally strong. Beowulf is loyal to those friends and people while Achilles abandons his fellow warriors and friends and lets them fight their own war. Beowulf is heroic and admirable, while Achilles is less heroic in most of his actions and rather loathsome.…

Another huge characteristic of superheroes is courage. Courage is a trait that modern and mature heroes alike possess. In Anglo-Saxon literature this was also a very important characteristic. In fact, in the poem, after Beowulf had just defeated Grendel, he takes the severed limb as a trophy. “The victory, for the proof, hanging high From the rafters where Beowulf had hung it, was the monster’s Arm, claw and shoulder and all.” (408-410). This is evidence of Beowulf’s strength because it takes so much power to remove a limb in general, imagine having to do it with bare…
