A person who comes from what is described as a “good” family background, who has fallen into criminal behavior. I believe that a person who comes from what is described as a “good” family background, who has fallen into criminal behavior is due to the group of people that they tend to hang around. Drugs and peer pressure also play a major part in why a person may decide to fall into criminal behavior. Even though a person may come from a “good” family background that does not mean that the person will not fall into criminal behavior, I know someone who had both parents at home, but the parents stayed busy at work. Her mother was a lawyer, and the father sold real estate, but the parents were hardly ever home. This person’s criminal behavior came from wanting everything easy and not having to work for anything. They started using drugs in high school, and hiding it from her parents. Her parents never had any kind of drugs in the house, except for prescriptions that stayed locked away. They spoiled their daughter, whatever she wanted she usually got. She never got disciplined or punished for the things she did wrong. There was never a role model for her to follow, to teach her right from wrong. To tell her that the friends she kept were trouble. Before we graduated she passed away in an illegal street race, she stayed mixed up in the wrong crowd, broke the law and stayed in trouble. Which lead to her life coming to an end to soon.
A person who comes from what is described as a “poor” family background, who has not fallen into criminal behavior. Now this other person I know came from virtually having nothing, had a dad that was in jail for grand theft auto and a mom that worked two jobs to pay the bills. Just because he came from a “poor” family background, didn’t mean he had to fall into a criminal lifestyle. His family was classified as being poor, but he always carried himself as if his family wasn’t poor. He always made sure that he was at school every day, asked for help from his fellow classmates and teachers. When he came of age he got a job, to help lighten the load on his mom. He did not let the fact that his family had nothing bring him down, he surrounded himself with friends who were not into drugs and trouble. He had positive outlook in life, because of the people he chose to surround himself with. They kept him from going out and making the wrong choices, like drugs and stealing cars. He chose to be successful, and a few years later he has a high school diploma and a college degree. Above are two different examples of people coming from totally different backgrounds and lifestyles. Each had different results in where there life ended up. Because of the choice theory, one decided to break the law because they didn’t have the proper guidance, and chose to surround themselves with the wrong crowd. As to where the other chose to be successful and surround themselves with people that have the similar goals in life and had proper guidance. The choices you make, make a big difference in your life and where you end up in it.
