Bator Tabor

The primary theory that was investigated in the article, “Health related quality of life changes of children and adolescents with chronic disease after participation in therapeutic recreation camping programs” was how the campers would rate their health related quality of life before and after the program. The hypothesis was that therapeutic recreation camping program of Bator Tabor has a detectable positive impact on the self-reported physical, psychological, emotional, and social aspects of well-being of children and adolescents. The Independent Variable defined was Disease Group and the Dependent Variable defined was the Ten Subscales of the KIDSCREEN- 52 instrument. The Independent Variable was measured by data at T1 by disease group and by previous participation in a camping program. Futhermore, the Dependent Variable measured was the Ten subscales are that of Physical well-being, Psychological well-being, Moods & Emotions, Self-Perception, Autonomy, Parent Relations & Home Life, Financial Resources, Social Supports & Peers, School Environment, Social
The conclusions from the authors were that camping programs proved to have a positive impact in the research group. These conclusions seemed to be pretty accurate, however, there was limitations. The only aspects of the study that raised concern was the limitations of the questionnaires environment and not knowing if people answered truthfully to the subscales they were told to answer. This article relates to my topic of recreational therapy, because it studies a camp that is used for recreational therapy and how it impacts campers, testing them before the camp and after. The part of the study that I would question the most is if the people being tested answered honestly to the survey and the time and age of participants were not necessarily recorded which could make the data
