Athletic Decision-Making Process

Process of making decisions and solving problems that arise
The decision-making process is a very important one in an Athletic department. It is the key to dealing with any problems that arise. In order to handle issues properly, we must evaluate the situation, talk with key members involved and then make the decisions based upon those findings. Decisions made in our Athletic Department will be transparent, so that everyone knows what to expect.
Leadership style
In our Athletic department, we follow the transformational theory. This starts with the Athletic Director and trickles on down. It is my job to guide and motivate my staff to achieve the goals we have at hand, while focusing on the overall goal of being a top 10 nationally recognized
They should be considerate and sportsmanlike regardless of the opponent.
Value of the role of sport in education and the value of the role of sport in society
Our student athletes are expected to give their best efforts both during competitions and while in the classroom. The value that is placed on athletes to perform well in sporting events is the same value that is placed on the classroom. We teach students to be well rounded while instilling the importance of education. Sports have the ability to bring entire communities together in support of a common goal. Sports represent a tremendous value to society as they encourage competition while bringing entire communities together for a common cause.
Embrace and manage change
Our Athletic Department believes in embracing change and not running from it. Change is often necessary for the betterment of the organization. We want to be at the forefront of change as we strive to continually improve our department.
Professional
Sports can teach athletes many educational lessons outside of the classroom that they can apply to the real world and successful careers. One of the greatest lessons taught in sports is work ethic. Through sport, athletes are continually working to improve and perform at the highest level. They are determined and motivated to be better. This can easily be applied to education because they can learn how to motivate themselves to improve their grades and excel in class projects or assignments. A strong work ethic can contribute to success in any endeavor. Sports also play a valuable role in society. Communities love having a team to root for and they will come together with that common goal. The community is the backbone of our organization and without them, we would not be where we are today as a program. Our final goal is to embrace change and not run from it. We are one of the first programs to embrace change and we strive to continue to be accepting and open to new ideas. Change is a valuable attribute in today’s society and if we don’t embrace it, we may miss out on opportunities to improve. We strive to be the example of a successful program that embraces change and I think we do a good job at displaying
