Rockfish Swimmers, Thank you for joining Rockfish this swim season! We would like to welcome you to the
20142015 swim season as the Athlete Representatives both on and off the pool deck. We are here to represent our team at all Maryland and USA swimming functions, as well as at the
Maryland House of Delegates meeting. However, we feel our most important role is to provide leadership for all of our fellow swimmers. The Rockfish team started in 2012 and has grown significantly, and we have many new members this year. As the Athlete Representatives, we will be getting to know each of you.
First, we would like to introduce ourselves; My name is Eric MacQuilliam, and I am the senior Athlete Rep for this year. I started swimming in the pool at my house when I was 2, and when I moved to Maryland I swam on the Elks for summer league. I am now a coach for that same team. I love swimming, and I hope to make swimming as enjoyable for the rest of the team as it is for me! I have been swimming with the Rockfish since it started in 2012. Most of you already know me, and I hope to get to know the whole team better! I play piano and violin when I’m not swimming, and I take a class at CSM. I am homeschooled and am a sophomore in high school. Some of you might see me at the aquatic center before practice, because I lifeguard there as well. My name is Madison Spiotta, and I am the junior Athlete Rep. In 2011, two years ago, I took swim lessons on the base over the summer. In the fall I joined the clinic at CSM and I was originally in the beginner group. That winter I went to my first swim meet and immediately fell in love with the sport. I was then moved up to the Intermediate in 2012, when Rockfish was formed. I have been a yearround swimmer ever since. I am currently a Freshman at
Chopticon High School and I am also the freshman Class Treasurer. Other than swimming, I volunteer at the Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad and I also

Joining the future business leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, becoming a youth leader at Christ Church, as well as many other volunteering activities helped me enrich my community, and make an impact in the world around me. Along with these organizations, I have played several sports in high school, in my junior and senior years I settled on my two favorite sports, track and field, and volleyball. Within these sports I have made friendships with my teammates I will never forget, and learned important lessons in humbleness when winning, and cohere with my friends when losing. By being a member of any sports teams at my high school, I regularly attended many of my school’s events, giving me the opportunity to develop relationships, and gain a tremendous sense of pride in my school. I am looking forward to bringing this same sense of pride to my college, and making many new friendships along the way. I learned over the course of my education to this point, that when I became more involved with these activities, my performance in the classroom increased alongside my…
