QUESTION 1
LIST FIVE KEY PIECES OF LEGISLATION WHICH RELATE TO GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY IN A SOCIAL CARE SETTINGS.

1. Health and Safety at work Act 1974 (HASAWA) , it ensures that the employer, the employee have responsibilities to ensure that a good level of safety is attained in the workplace, and there should be a copy of this act on the works premises for use of any employee or service user.
2. Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (known as RIDDOR) outlines what is required to be recorded and reported.
3. Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 which sets out methods and requirements to be met when manually handling objects, as well as people.
4. The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (known as COSHH) which ensures safe storage and usage of any substances that could harm other workers or service users.
5. Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations (PPE) 1992

DESCRIBE FOUR MAIN POINTS OF HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.

1. Agreed ways of working include policies and procedures where exist: they may be less formally documented among micro-employers and the self-employed.
2. Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you.
3. Risk assessments - Your employer has a 'duty of care' to look after, as far as possible, your health, safety and welfare while you are at work. They should start with a risk assessment to spot possible health and safety hazards.
