Assessing Moral Values
Question One
Is there anything wrong with pornography? Yes, I believe that pornography is totally wrong. With Christian parents and with a cultural background that teaches pornography as a sexual sin and a taboo within my cultural. This is a behavioral that leads to attitudes where male viewer are more aggressive and brings about other sexual desires such as masturbating, Pedophilia and lead to crime as child molestation and rape. It is addictive and damaging to relationship, marriage, and loss of trust. Pornography is something that gets into the core of being a man where he cannot

In Matthew 5:28, of the Living Bible (TLB), Jesus said “Anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” It takes your inner strength, that when the eyes look, the hormones are activated and the mind is sunk in a fantasy world. It makes no different if you know the person or not; lust is not connected to a relationship. Reason two: It is addictive and can lead to crime. I believe that after looking at pornography that if the urge is over wining that it will lead to child molestation, rape, and child pornography. Reason three: It is degrading to women. Women are taken as an object, that the male viewer of pornography is aggressive that they don’t know the pain and suffering of their victims that they take advantage of. Husband’s viewer of pornography tend to abuse their wife for not giving them the sexual desires they see and want from watching/viewing pornography either on internet or magazine. Reason four: It brings on physical, mental, and emotional stress, which may lead to family break up. It leads to financial crises both for the viewer and family. The viewer has a need to support his addiction to buy pay for his pornography …show more content…
377). Through the biblical teaching there is another aspect of theory that has effective my thinking, which leads me to my mortal value as Divine Command theory view “holds that there are absolute moral principles that all humans should follow and these principles are determined by the Supreme Being that created them” (Chaffee, 2010, p.378). There is a third theory that supports my thinking, which is the ethic of justice because it states that “the intentions or motivations behind an action, not the consequences” (Chaffee, 2010, p.387). I believe that these pornography viewers are a threat to the society that crime is committed, not thinking of the consequences or penalty. In conclusion, my belief is well supported and fit together properly through my mortal values and theories. Pornography is not only wrong, there are consequences that lead to criminal activities and losing the most value things in life, such as yourself respect, dignity, self-control and your family (White, 2014). It is an addicting problem that is hard to overcome, when it takes control of your mind and inner strength (Olson, n.d). Because we are a society that is so dependent on technology and entertainment we are becoming

What is the difference between an action and a porn movie? They are both something you can rent, buy , watch , they both come in the same video formats. Thus the key difference that deferentiates pornography is its content – sex. Sex is something that is absolutely normal , and actually is the main drive behind the human evolution. Human beings are aware that except for reproduction, sex is also something that brings pleasure and is one of the basic human needs. Than what defines a pornographic movie is that first of all it is a movie(its format) and second of all it has content (sex). Therefore if movies are morally accepted in the society, and sex itself is also a normal event between two(or more) human beings , combining two “moral” statements should bring us a conclusion that pornography is moral. Pornography is a product of choice. The increased demand for pornographic movies is picturing quite vividly that people choose to watch porn on their own will, and thus there is nothing immoral in it. Pornography as a job is also usually a personal choice and thus in the whole process of creating an adult movie all the parties are willingly consenting to participate , which again is not immoral because every person is entitled to the right of his or her own body.…

There are several reasons why people turn to porn. Some reasons are for seeing their own fantasies acted out because they can’t act them out with their own partner / spouse, some people want to avoid intimacy within their own relationship for personal reasons, some just do it for personal pleasure. But for whatever reason, there is always a consequence that will follow.…

Over the years, there has been an evil on the prowl, which can destroy the human mind. This evil has been known to put people in debt and even tear marriages apart. Pornography has become a regular way of life for many Americans, and it is seldom looked at as an issue anymore. One cannot even perform a Google image search anymore without at least one provocative image appearing in the search results. Plain and simple, pornography is a disease, and it needs to be brought to an end. I believe that pornography should be made illegal in the United States. This ongoing issue has been destroying Americans, mostly men, more and more as time progresses. I have seen multiple friends annihilate their lives by this disgusting manor. My main issue with…

In social media, people can easily find videos and images that promotes “sexual addictive behavior.” These free sexual images and videos can lead to teens taking the next step on clicking the internet sites that gives “sex chat, sexual hook-ups, prostitutes, or finding old acting-out partners” (Hatch). Paulla Hall, a sex addiction therapist, claims about forty percent of teenagers had seen pornography before age of twelfth. For men, excitement was the reason for their sexual behavior. In women, “affirmation and feeling wanted” was their reason. Because teenagers lack of education and easy access to porn, it can easily lead them to become addicted. Keir Starmer, the Director of Public Prosecutions, admits internet pornography have increased violence in teenage relationships over the year…

With this in mind, Pornographic addiction will be the area of greatest concern. At first glance, unless you are of strong religious persuasion, pornography seems to have no harmful effects what-so-ever. But if you are to dissect this addiction, there are many problems that arise. One of the most vital parts of mental environment is a healthy idea of who we are sexually. If these ideas are polluted, a critical part of who we are becomes twisted. The porn culture tells you that sex, love and intimacy are all the same thing. In porn, people have sex with total strangers -- people they just met. All that matters is my satisfaction. It doesn't matter whose body I'm using, as long as I get it. Porn gets you to think that sex is something you can have anytime, anywhere, with anyone, with no consequences.…

For the women more so than the men society asks why women get themselves involved doing sexual acts on film or live. The porn industry makes it seem like the porn actresses love sex and that they want you to think that they enjoy being degraded by all kinds of repulsive acts. The truth about porn actresses is that they showed up on the set not knowing about certain requirements and were told by porn producers to do it or leave without being paid. Work or never work again. Some of these women don’t have a choice because they need the money bad, so some were manipulated and coerced and even threatened. Throughout their career some of these women have caught HIV, Herpes, or some other kind of sexually transmitted disease from that coercion. Other porn actresses have gone home after a long night of numbing her pain, puts a pistol to her head and pulls the trigger. Now she’s dead.…

Does pornography affect your life? It might if you are part of the “28,258 people surfing porn” (Tech Crunch) that happens every one second. According to Gaddis (2009), Pornography has existed for a long period of time although it has not been a serious problem that causes major issues until now in the 21 century. The pornography business has become a multibillion dollar industry. Access to pornography has become so easy to access that you do not have to even drive to your local shop for a playboy magazine to masturbate to. All it takes is the “on” switch on your computer and you have access to naked women on your screen within seconds, thanks to the internet. Many would say that porn is not a bad thing but very healthy because it allows physical release and sexual arousal without the risk of sexual diseases or unwanted pregnancy. Except, it is no longer healthy when it starts taking over your life, affecting your relationships, values, social skills, and sex life because you start to lose realization of reality. Pornography is out to get you every time you go on the internet. The industries main targets are male teenagers and young college students who are easy target to lure into the world of porn at young age. Their target age is a very smart strategy because it builds consumers at a young age that may eventually become long term addicts and consumers. Male internet users see advertisements with provocative pictures about meeting “sexy singles” and dating sites all the time when entering sites. That why male users see these ads as harmless so they click on the links out of curiosity. Pornography is harmful to men because it leads to addiction and objectification, damages relationships and emotions, increases sexual violence, causes sexual problems, and might also leads to pedophilia.…

Banning pornography is a noble idea, however, not a very practical one. First of all, sex is a part of human nature. Even if pornography no longer abounds, fact would remain that humans are sexual beings by nature. They would keep finding ways to satisfy their sexual needs, whether directly through intercourse or partially through pornography. For as long as humans have sexual drive, sex crimes would never cease.…

Many people think that pornography is just harmless fun and that it has no negative effects. However, it is almost impossible not to be affected by pornography, legal or not (Lloyd). Research has shown that pornography and its messages are involved in shaping attitudes and encouraging behavior that can harm individual users and their families. Pornography is often viewed in secret, which creates dishonesty within marriages that can lead to divorce in some cases. In addition, pornography promotes the allure of adultery, prostitution and unreal expectations that can result in dangerous promiscuous behavior. Young people growing up in our already overly sexualized culture are being exposed to sexually explicit material on a daily basis through network television, movies, music and the Internet. Children are being subjected to sexual material and messages before they are mentally prepared to understand or assess what they are viewing.…
