Biology Project – Do You Agree With the Creation of This Artificial Cell?

Introduction
The aim for this project is to find out the positive and negative impacts of the creation of a new artificial cell called Cinthya (Annex N.1), how can it be used positively in different fields, and at last, if I personally agree with the creation of Artificial Cells. In this project I will inform you about the uses of Artificial Cells in medicine and other subjects, if there are any drawbacks and finally my opinion about if scientists are playing God or not.

I think that this theme is extremely important for our learning because it is an actual theme that concerns many people around the globe due to its controversial aspects, is Humanity playing God? Should the creation of Artificial Cells be banned? Until what extend can we play with living organisms? These are some of the reasons why for me this topic is so important.

How Can AC be used in Different Fields?
AC’s can be widely used im many different fields if managed with responsibility. These fields may include: medicine (vaccine technology), research (study bacteria & how they spread), fuels (cleaner fuels) and at last technology (new generations of biologically based components). [1], [2], [3] & [4]

I think that the most practical and fast application of AC’s is in the field of medicine, developing new vaccines, which are safe and effective for certain diseases and “rapid synthetic manufacture with no animal, egg, or cell culture required – greatly reduced chance of contamination and much faster to market.” Another fast application of AC’s would be the study of human gene sequences, since they are not truly understood, achieving a new level of control over life, at a molecular level. [1], [2], [3] & [4]

Researchers say that it will take years before scientists can truly demonstrate the potential uses of AC’s. These potential uses of AC’s in the future may be cleaner fuels or maybe the

Back in the 1800’s Thomas Edison had a vision to power the whole of New York using DC (direct current) that he developed, this idea was brilliant, but had one set back. A power station was needed every mile due to D.C. only flowing in one direction. This wasn’t a very practical form of electricity or cost effective, another idea or form of electricity was needed. Welcome Nikolas Tesla, he came up with the idea of AC (Alternating Current) with this form of electricity the flow of electric charge changes direction periodically in relation to a sine wave. With this new type of electricity it could be sent much further due to…

The concept that all living organisms are made of cells and that cells are formed by the reproduction of existing cells. chemical it produces ushered in a whole new age of medicine. For the first time, doctors had a way to treat such deadly illnesses as bacterial pneumonia, syphilis, and meningitis. As physician Lewis Thomas, former president of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, wrote in his 1992 memoir Fragile Species, “We could hardly believe our eyes on seeing that bacteria could be killed off without at the same time killing the patient. It was not just amazement, it was a revolution” (Infographic 3.1).…

After reading the “‘Bubble baby’ stem cell” paper I have come to the conclusion that stem cell research is an excellent thing. The reason why I think that is if we never do research and create a cure for “Bubble baby disease” then we will continue to lose babies. But, if we risk a few lives of babies for research in the long run it will save millions if not billions of lives. In this essay I will give three reasons on why I think stem cell research is a great thing.…

Science Engineering is coming up with a lot of impressive ideas lately. It just makes one wonder what will happen next. It may begin with something as simple as spiders and goats being used in producing spider silk, but it could possibly lead to something taught to be impossible.
