Vincent Valdez
Vincent Valdez was born & raised in San Antonio, Texas. Valdez began drawing at age three; as early as kindergarten, he realized his artistic skills differed from others.
While participating in a mural project at San Antonio's Esperanza Peace and Justice
Center at age 10, Valdez decided art would be his career. He earned his of Bachelor
Fine Arts, at the Rhode Island School of Design in Illustration. Valdez art works are exhibited at National Museum of Mexican Art, where recently I visited to choose an artwork for my research paper. I observed many greats art works, but one of
Valdez artwork called my attention, I lost her El Diablo, he can have her I don’t want her anymore.
Valdes, for this work used a serigraphy technique, which consists in reproducing the original image by using silk screen above surface involving stencils or block outs that keep the ink from being squeegeed through the silk. In this artwork Valdes only used three ink colors, white, black and brown. In this serigraph the center figure is a man, who is disappointed, sad, defeated and hopeless, because his woman cheated on him with El Diablo. I came to this conclusion, because the title of this artwork. Also, his face looks heart-broken and he is wearing baggy clothes, because he seems very depressed to take care of his appearance. He is sitting on a wood chair, smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer. The smoke of the cigarette is combined with a sign on the wall, which says “puta.” Also there
Cruz 2 is a table, on the table; are many objects that each mean something to describe this scene. One of the objects is a picture of his ex, cut in half and there is a knife through the eye of the woman. Another figure is two empty beer cans. Also, there are a Visa Card &
Master Card ripped in half with loose change next to and two dollar bills, which I think represents that she left him because he had no money. The most important

The female, which is the one on the right, is taller meaning that she has more control. During the 20th century, women being the one who wears the pants in relationship is a taboo. Instead of painting actual human beings, he painted to be made out of gigantic stone, secluded from people like the one below them. The couple also has their head down as if they are ashamed to be with each other. This could be because the male figure is embarrassed that his partner has the complete dominance. He could have lost his control because he is weak or incapable or the woman figure could have overpowered him. His body's a golden tone and it looks as if he was sitting on a chair with his arms crossed over against his lap. There is also an oval shaped on top of his head that could be his hair tied up. The woman, even having all the control is shown as depressed because she could not help her partner. Her body is more of a silver hue and she looks disproportional and unnatural. Her prolonged neck and head is horizontally sticking and poking out. The upper body is way shorter compared to her long legs. There is also space in between the two figures that can symbolize their gradual separation as a couple. The small human being down below is pointing at the woman stone figure to his or her child like she is the one to blame. The dark colors surrounding the focus creates a melancholic and dreary mood. Both figures has trees and plants connected down by their legs and there are birds flying away near or from their…

“Ring!” I immediately rose from my chair at the lunch table and started hustling out the cafeteria doors to my next class, art. That was the class I looked forward to everyday. Creating art and observing art is my way to escape ordinary life at school. While I paint, I become completely absorbed into my inner world and able to express my thoughts and feelings on paper. However, before the class begins to create artwork, the art teacher assigns us a task and certain technique to practice in our art. Today, the teacher assigned us to include perspective into our drawings.…
