Arguments Against Animal Testing Essay
Arguments against testing

The critics of animal testing base their argument on the grounds of morality, the necessity or the validity of this procedure, whether proper authority to perform such tests is granted, whether such tests are actually needed and whether such tests practically provide us with any useful information. The supporters of animal rights say that animals have the right to live their own life peacefully; and we are not allowed to meddle with them just because we can. (Alternatives to Animal testing on the Web: FAQs) Deaths through research are considered unnecessary and are morally not different from murder. Animal dissection is regarded as misleading. (Animal Experiments) The major disadvantage of animal testing stated by John Frazier and Alan Goldberg of CAAT are “Animal discomfort and death, species-extrapolation problems and excessive time and expense.” (Animal Testing Alternatives) Supporters refute this statement by emphasizing that the brutal treatment of animals in tests is administered most of the time with anesthesia. (Animal Testing Alternatives)

The fact that the results attained from experiments on animal testing do not accurately portray their influence on humans is considered to be a one of the serious argument against the animal testing. Humans are quite different from other animals, so the consequences of animal testing may not applicable to humans. They argue that they way one species reacts to a given drug or chemical in a particular way does not necessarily entail other species will react in the same way. (Alternatives to Animal testing on the Web: FAQs) An Italian Professor Peitro Croce has been fighting against animal testing for several years. The arguments he puts forth includes misleading results of animal tests while they are applied to humans. Parsley is considered to be a deadly poison

Animal testing is wasteful, useless, and dangerous. The experiments that are done on these animals are gruesome. Bountiful amounts of people (about 62% in 2004 according to Heather Mason Kiefer) argue that animal testing is necessary in order to produce safe products. On the contrary, several studies have found these methods to be questionable. They lack accurate, safe results.…

Animal testing is rarely successful since animals have different physiologies than humans. There has been many studies that have shown inaccuracy and unsuccess in animal testing. Studies show, “90 percent of medications approved for human use after animal testing later proved ineffective or harmful to humans in clinical trials” (Stop Animal Testing) and also, “Animal-tested drugs have killed, disabled or harmed millions of people and lead to costly delays as well” (Stop Animal Testing). It is evident that animal testing lacks accuracy and has dangerous consequences, therefore it should no longer be…

Many people today can say they love their pet, whether it is a dog, a cat, a rabbit, or fish. Little do we actually think about the animals suffering to the torture of cruel animal testing that goes on behind the scenes of the company’s we love. Maybelline, Head and Shoulders, and Clorox are all companies that test on animals, yet are still supported by the thousands of people that buy and use their products. I believe the main reason people continue to support companies that perform animal testing is because society today is not informed or educated about the severity of animal testing. People do not know or care to research if a company performs animal testing. Besides consumers keeping these companies alive and running, animal testing is not humane or morally right. It has been scientifically proven that animals can to a certain extent feel pain (Tell Me if it Hurts: Investigating Whether Animals Feel Pain by Caroline…

Animal testing has also been used to find cures for certain diseases like Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS. Each year, more than 100 million animals are killed in lab for product testing. Now a days, scientists are using animals for their research and testings, and I disagree with the use of animals. It is unfair to animals because in the end it kills them, it may not actually work on humans, and the cost of it.…

Animal testing has been a topic of debate for many generations. It is difficult to imagine a common house hold pet subjected to extreme procedures of the mildest and painless form to the harshest form imaginable. I am talking about your average mouse, rabbit, cat or dog. At the same time, consumers want to be assured they are using the safest products available, and people want science to find cures for life-threatening diseases. Lately, science has tried to prove out theories and hypnosis through computer algorithms but we still have to rely on physical subjects like the animals referenced. There is no public argument that says we should not test products before entering the market, the debate is the method by which these products should be tested. Animal testing is necessary for biomedical research, but should be eradicated for vanity reasons in terms of cosmetics.…

In many cases, animals are used in order to make sure that a certain product will have no negative side affects on humans. Animals have been used for several decades in experiments to make sure that it is safe for humans to use. One of the biggest controversies in all areas of scientific research today centers on the ethics of animal testing. However, this issue has raised a number of questions relating to human ethics. In the past, according to Michael Allen Fox, “several plans have been introduced for organizations that continuously rely on animals for testing purposes, but no plans have worked so far” (Fox). Animal testing should not be done in a manner as it is presently being done. Not only is it unethical and cruel, but also organizations are using animals in their laboratories for profit purposes and are abusing the rights they have to experiment on these animals. They…

Imagine walking into a small lab in United states. You hear Dogs howling and monkeys screaming of fear. You see mice scattering in circles in a small cage and rabbits hiding in a corner. You see chemicals and special tools laid all over tables. You can see This is what an animal testing lab would look like. Each year more than 100 million animals-including mice, rats frogs, pigs, birds, monkeys, fish, cats, rabbits and more die from animal testing. Although no one will want to test on a real, human body, people can test on other things. With it being 2017, we have a lot of technology, and engineers could make a new technology so scientists could use those and leave animals out of the picture.…

The animals being tested on have no say in whether or not they approve of being tested on. The scientists who create the products put harmful chemicals in their cosmetics and supplements that they aren’t even sure how it will react when it is combined with the animal. “Currently 9 out of 10 experimental drug tests FAIL in clinical studies because we can not accurately predict how they will react in people based on laboratory and animal studies.” (PETA, Michael O’ Leavitt) Animals are very different from humans, that is why we have animal medicines and human medicines. If we were the same we would take the same products and have the same effects but we don’t. We should not use animal testing because it is inaccurate depending on the type of animal and our different reactions to different substances. The pain the animals endure just for products that don’t even show complete…

“The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality”. (Arthur Schopenhauer, the Basis of Morality). Although animal testing has contributed too many life saving cures and treatments, it is cruel and most experiments involving animals are flawed. In my opinion testing of these products should be used on the people that will be using these products rather than animals, whom have little relation to human beings. Testing products on humans instead of animals, not only guarantees a more accurate outcome, but it saves these animals from the horrific tests they have to endure. Some would argue that the reason we test on animals before humans is because humanity is the dominant species on earth and if we can save a human life before an animal than so be it.…

Those who are in favor of animal testing justify it many different ways. Thomas Hamm, a toxicologist and veterinarian, argues that, “We can’t protect the environment, or people in general, without doing some animal testing. If you’re pro-environment but opposed to animal testing, you’re on shaky ground, because the two positions just aren’t compatible with each other” (Fano, 44). In order to have a safe and successful society, he argues, we must use animals to test chemicals, drugs, treatments, and anything else that will further our knowledge of improving the world, at least for humans. Many people are of the same mind as Hamm. Animal testing reduces the risks of many products, like cosmetics and medication, among many others. Scientists can put safety standards in place for products based on their findings via animal testing. Often, animals will react badly or even die from certain chemicals or combinations, make the humans that use the products…
