Argument Essay: Climate Change In The United States

Climate Change Many Americans, and as well as others around the world, believe that climate change doesn’t exist. However, there are many facts and signs pointing towards to the opposing side. Even NASA has confirmed the realness of climate change, and it’s extremely uncanny. My first source, the National Consumers League, states that at least 40 percent of our food is wasted in the U.S. and a quarter to a third of all food worldwide goes to waste. Our food waste has increased by 50 percent since the 1970s, around the time when industrial farming became a significant means of feeding the public. The National Consumers League (NCL) explains, “If we reduced our food waste losses by 15%, we could feed 25 million more Americans each year.” Even the UK is proposing that we, as a globe, “stopped wasting food that could be eaten, it would be the equivalent to removing everyone in four cars from the road.”
There’s even a whole website dedicated to people that believe climate change is a hoax/scam. Elmer Beauregard, the author of “Top Ten Reasons Climate Change is a Hoax”, expressed, “Al Gore predicted that oceans would rise by 20 feet by 2100. However, it looks like we’re on track for about a foot. Many tide gauges show no rise in sea level, and almost none show any acceleration over the past 20 years.” Beauregard may be correct, but this does not prove or confirm that climate change is a hoax. He also declares that “Polar bears are thriving,” however polar bears are ranked with the conservation status “vulnerable,” which means the day they go extinct could be very soon.
