The Truth of Global Warming

SCI110

There are many myths and facts about global warming, but the same question is always asked, “Is global warming real or not?” Many more questions arise from asking if global warming is real or not like, “is it the human’s fault or is it just the natural course of the Earth?” There is much evidence that scientist had gather to prove that global warming is real; for example everyone is aware the Antarctic glacier’s melting causing the oceans to rise and causing many problems not only to people but also animals too (Discovery Channel, Discovery Channel - Global Warming, What You Need To Know [Documentary]). The following are facts about global warming and how it is a real thing whether there are people wanting to believe this or not it is happening. There are many important facts that can help a person realize that global warming is real wither its mankind’s fault or the Earth’s fault it is happing and it is real. One of the easiest ways to see how global warming is real is by visiting South Louisiana, the place had no winter last year and it was only cold because of cold fronts. There are many causes to global warming for example the burning of fossil fuels causes greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide which trap heat otherwise escape from Earth ("11 facts about,”). Human take their role in global warming

The United States is great because of all the diversity, with so many different people who consider themselves American I think its hard to say there is even a "typical" looking American.…

Global Warming is an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse effect. Thus there is no indication that the warming between “1975-1998” and “1975 to 2009” is unnatural, unusual and/or caused by anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions. Global Warming may have started in 1975, but there is no observable evidence of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emission based global warming began in 1975. Most climate scientists agree the main cause of the current global warming trend is human expansion of the “greenhouse effect” warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from earth towards space.Yet the big question standing still is, is Global Warming real? Well here's what you need to know about the warming planet, how it's affecting us, and whats at stake. In recent years, global warming has been the subject of a great deal of political…

Today, the world is experiencing anthropogenic global climate change. This means that there is a global climate change that is being caused by humans, which is all of us. Many people are in denial that global climate change, or commonly known as global warming, is really occurring. But, global warming really is happening and there is scientific proof. In the TED talk, James Balog explains how the arctic icebergs are the “canary in the global coalmine.” The ice is deflating and receding at a very rapid rate which is higher than it ever has. Sea level is set to continue to rise at a faster rate than over the past 40 years because of the melting ice, which is proof that global warming is really happening. Also, carbon dioxide is at an unprecedented level not seen for at least the last 800,000 years. It is released through natural processes but also through human activities such as deforestation, land use changes, and burning fossil fuels. Humans have increased atmospheric CO2 concentration by a third since the Industrial Revolution began. The carbon dioxide levels are directly related to the population of the world.…

Global warming is a fact. We know this because over the past ten to fourteen years the earth has been heating up. We have produced record breaking temperatures not only in the United States, but around the world as mentioned in Al Gore’s Nobel Prize winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. The argument still remains, though, what is the cause of global warming? Posted this week in the Wall Street Journal was an article written by Jeffrey Ball that stated two years ago, a United Nations scientific panel won a Nobel Peace Prize after coming to the conclusion that global warming is "unequivocal" and is "very likely" caused by man. Although many people disagree and believe that global warming is naturally occurring, I would argue that this epidemic is manmade for a number of reasons: 1) pollution which released by coal burning factories and our everyday use of vehicles, 2) the melting of the polar ice caps and excessive rain fall, 3) dying off of animals, timber, and land.…

Global warming is a topic that has been in the news, classroom, and discussed in many media outlets. This controversial topic has many wondering if global warming is fact or if it is hype in order to create demands in certain markets for product marketing and profits. Even the science community cannot come to an agreement on the reality nor severity of global warming (WSJ, 1/27/2012). I happen to believe that the truth lies somewhere between fact and hype but my opinion leans more towards hype.…

In my investigation I will show the cause of global warming, the effects it is having on earth today and what we all can do to help minimize it. I want to learn more about global warming so that I can share with others the understanding of it and what it is really doing to our planet. Global warming is the most serious potential environmental concern today. Global warming is the rising in the average temperature of the world. The temperature has risen about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit from the mid 1800’s to now. Researchers believe that human activity is the main cause. Human activities have altered the chemical composition of the atmosphere through buildup of greenhouse gases. Global warming is also known as the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is what regulates the temperature of our planet. There are many things affected by global warming, air pollution, vanishing wildlife, spreading of disease, coral bleaching and melting ice caps to just name a few. According to former vice president of the United States, Al Gore, we are facing a climate crisis, one that may seem to be happening slowly but is actually happening very quickly. If we don’t recognize that this is a real crisis and take action, then the consequences will only get worse.…

Global warming has been a massive controversial theory that has been researched and calculated for years. An abundance of people do not know that their lives have been impacted by global warming. These researchers have been collecting data for years and years proving its existence. Many scientist and intellectual figures may say that in fact global warming is real; many other scientist and intellectual figures may agree with each other that it’s a joke and hoax, they have been arguing over this topic very seriously, although I believe that we should halt the questioning and should focus on how we can take action and help our environment.…

Global warming is the warming of earth’s land, water and atmosphere. Global warming has happened throughout history, but has recently become more of an issue. Every year since 2001 has made it on the warmest year record list. There is much debate whether this is a natural phenomenon or if the human population is causing global warming. There is no denying that the earth is getting warmer. As shown in the graph to the right global temperatures have risen from -.4 C to .6 C over a four year period. Judging by the graphs steady rise, it’s only going to get hotter. One thing is certain, the effects that global warming has are life threatening to many populations (“Global Warming…”).…
