ANTONIO BANDERAS

Antonio Banderas was born on August 10, of 1960in Spain. Banderas was a very energetic child growing up and was raised as a Roman Catholic. Unfortunately at the age 14 in 1974 he dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player when he broke his foot in an accident, unable to full fill his dream he began to study acting. In 1979 when he was 19 he moved to Madrid joining an acting group. In 1980 he acted in his first movie The Mambo Kings, though he did not know much English he practiced his lines coping and listening, after that he studied the English language intently. In 1993 he played in Philadelphia with Tom Hanks. And just a year later in 1994 he won the role in The Interview With the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles. In 1997-1998 he stared in The Mask of Zorro with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins. In 1999 he presented his debut ‘Crazy in Alabama’, which was a black comedy in which both he and his wife Melanie Griffith, starred. After that he made his executive producer debut on ‘The White River Kid’ with Bob Hoskins and Wes Bentley. Also in 1999, Banderas was given the European Film Academy award for European Achievement in World Cinema. He was an aspiring boxer in ‘Play It to the Bone’ in 2000, opposite Woody Harrelson; and a Cuban tycoon, with Angelina Jolie, in ‘Original Sin‘. He had also played a part in the ‘Spy Kids’ movies in 2001-2003. 2004 Banderas provided voice for ‘Shrek 2’ and worked on ‘Far Far Away Idol’ and a year later in 2005 he stared in the sequal ‘The Legend of Zorro’ with Anthony Hopkins once again. This was also a big year for him, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making him a modern acting legend. Unfortunately he made it clear he had no interest in making another Zorro movie.
