Animal Rights Persuasive Speech
I’d like to begin by quoting Captain Paul Watson, “If you want to know where you would have stood on slavery before the Civil War, don't look at where you stand on slavery today. Look at where you stand on animal rights.” Throughout my presentation I ask that you keep these questions in mind: Is slavery no longer slavery when its not happening to humans? Is abuse not abuse if it isn't happening to your species? And, is murder not considered murder when its not happening to someone like you? If I ask all of you if you love animals, most of you would say yes. Yet its because of people like you that animals like pigs, cows, and chickens suffer and take knives to the neck every second of every minute of every day. Humans have victimized animals so much, that they aren't even considered victims anymore. We have turned living, feeling, breathing beings into inanimate objects such as shoes, and sandwiches. Every year on this planet 60 billion land and 90 billion marine animals are slaughtered without a second thought to feed the greed of humans. In the United States alone, there are more than 5,000 trucks carrying animals to slaughter houses where they will be hung upside down, and while fully conscience, have a bullet put between their eyes or have a knife slash their neck, all in order to feed a group of ungrateful humans who don't even need it for survival. Out of all the abused animals on this planet 98% of them are victims of the meat, egg, and dairy companies. If you consume animals, and the things that come out of animals, you are intentionally causing pain, and suffering. I find it unbelievable how a species that claims to know the difference from right …show more content…

Animals deserve rights because just like humans, they feel excruciating pain, suffer and have feelings. One would argue that animals don’t experience emotions? But the answer is of course they do. It is emotions that allow animals to display various behavior patterns. According to the theory of utilitarianism, all sentient beings should be given consideration in the society and this includes both animals and humans. Also, animals cannot speak for themselves and for this reason they should be treated equally, protected and given the same respect as human beings. Peter singer’s approach also supports the argument on equal consideration in that animals deserve the same respect as human beings but just in a different view. In today’s society humans exploit animals for milk, meat, fur, scientific experimentation etc. and animals are constantly injured or killed. Their pain and sufferings should be taken into consideration, as this unjust treatment is morally unacceptable. Similarly speciesism is an…

Yes we need to test our drugs and surgical stuff on something so that humans do not have to suffer but the way that they are killed is inhumane and wrong. Pigs have done nothing to deserve to die and suffer for our own selfish needs. I believe it is inhumane to kill them and use them the way that we do and we should find another way to test on them. Even though we need to test on something to help us. I think there should be another way to make this happen rather than kill them and watch them…

In the essay, “The Case For Animals Rights”, Tom Regan stresses that, “the fundamental wrong is the system that allows us to view animals as our resources, here for us- to be eaten, or surgically manipulated, or exploited for sports or money.” As an animal lover, I would never want to intentionally harm or kill any animal without a justifiable cause. But within reason, animals should not be treated equally as human beings. I believe that it is not inhumane for animals to be eaten, surgically manipulated, or exploited for sports and money as long as it is within basic human ethological boundaries.…

This generation of human beings was lucky enough to be born at a time where there are heart transplants, and vaccines for illnesses. Also, we love to use products from Covergirl, Dove, and Pantene. Yes, all of these things are very important in our everyday lives. But, we tend to overlook what goes on behind the scenes. Covergirl, Dove, Pantene test their products on animals. Also, heart transplants and vaccines all go through animal testing first. The animals used in these tests get locked up in dark cages, and suffer through countless, painful procedures when there are better options. I believe that animal testing is unethical and should be banned for three reasons. Animal testing is inaccurate, cruel, and it is lengthy and delays the discovery…

Sometimes the answers to these questions get lost within our selves when you’re spending countless hours scouting, placing cameras, trying to find where your next kill will be. As a society, we have made many efforts to get rid of slavery and exploitation of fellow humans. Why? This is because a life is worth much more than any money that a human trafficker gains from harming another life and taking away someone’s freedom. It is wrong to steal another person’s right to life and happiness. There are still many cases of human trafficking and slavery in the United States of America, but trafficking and abuse is highly frowned upon and will hopefully land the abuser in jail. Although it’s obvious that enslaving other lives is invidious and morally wrong, there are many sane, good people who are condoning trafficking and exploitation of innocent animals every day. There is a clear issue of anthropocentrism in our society. Why is the abuse of a human life any different than that of an animal’s? All creatures are cognizant of the pain they experience. All living things with brains can feel happiness. Growing up in a household where there was never an absence of pets I have learned that animals do have emotions, do…
