Anderson's Many Problems In Our Town
Anderson has many problems. From the people to the ground we walk on, there’s something wrong with our town. It’s the litter we leave around. This can and will become very dangerous to us and the animals living here. From trash to even worse, drug needles. People just leave them lying around or thrown on the ground. It can harm our smaller children, makes our town look bad, and can hurt the wildlife we have here in Anderson.

Our smaller children around the town tend to pick up things and some of the stuff we leave lying around can hurt them. If a child picked something sharp up, like a glass bottle that has been broken, it could cut the child and end up in an ER trip. Or worse if they somehow get it into their mouths it can cut the inside of it. They also tend to put things in their mouths, and that can get them sick with whatever disease we have going around. Smaller children don’t really have a strong immune system so some sickness, like the flu, can take them days to get

Instead of the clean streets and parks we should have, we have fast food cups, plastic bags, food wrappers, etc on the side of the road. It makes the town look rundown and dirty. The litter even gives a reputation of the town being bad, along with other ways as well. There’s a fine of up to $2500 if you get caught littering. No one has that type of money laying around. Just because we don’t get caught doesn’t mean we should do it .

Picking up after ourselves could help in so many ways. It’ll help keep our children and beloved pets safe, and keep the town looking nice. Think of how many things we could do to keep Anderson clean. If people took time out of their day to pick up the trash they throw on the ground it’d help so much. The town officials could have trash cans installed in the parks to cut down on littering. The town’s citizens could learn more about reducing, reusing, and recycling. If we all work together we could make Anderson

Litter, litter, everywhere and nary a piece gets recycled. Why? It seems pretty simple to put litter back into the recycling loop and that's just what the Nicodemus Wilderness Project does after a cleanup. The majority of the litter that we collect during our trail cleanups is recyclable. There are lots of glass bottles, paper products, plastics, and aluminum cans littering our wild lands and waters. Removing this litter from the shoreline, mountains, and other wilderness areas prevents wildlife injury and restores the natural beauty of our environment. Recycling this litter elevates the effort an extra step by ensuring this trash stays out of the landfill. At the Nicodemus Wilderness Project, we've even reused some of this litter…

Trash, garbage, junk, debris-all alternatively known as litter-scattered across the 268,597 square miles of Texas on our highways and landscapes. Where former First Lady Claudia Alta "Lady Bird" Johnson aspired to see bright and colorful wildflower blanketing the great Texas countryside, oftentimes we only see disturbing amounts of garbage. This is what I aim to change. Through my school's Key Club I have had the opportunity to have a positive impacts in reducing the "over 435 million pieces of visible litter" covering "our empire wide and glorious." In the thirty-eight total service hours I have dedicated to both Texas Adopt-A-Highway and school wide recycling the amount of litter that myself and the generous volunteers…

The decision by the city commission to adopt curbside recycling is a step in the right direction — which is why we fully support its leadership on this issue. However, the decision by the city commission to make curbside recycling optional rewards the wrong behavior (polluting), and punishes the right behavior (recycling). Those who already recycle will choose to participate in curbside recycling and pay for it. Those who do not recycle…

This is probably the reason why the earth is being polluted with trash. Studies show that people litter because they do not feel responsible for public areas and that people usually litter outside of their neighborhoods where the trash becomes someone else’s problem. One example on how litter can affect the environment is that organic litter can cause water pollution and lead to algal blooms, and cigarettes could also start fires if they are not put out and then discarded in the environment. In Al Gore's speech he talks about how in 7 years the North Polar ice cap might “fall off a cliff.” This might happen in 7 years because of the Northern Hemisphere tilting away from the sun. This happened because of all the pollution and global warming we caused and because of our trash. So, people may argue and say one piece of trash on the ground doesn't really matter and that it’s okay to throw little pieces of trash on the floor but it’s not. Every little piece adds up and still causes damage on the environment. So think next time you're about to throw your candy wrapper in a nearby bush. Think about the consequences of that action and how it will affect the…

Research has found that people litter when someone (who cares) is not witnessing (Cialdini, et al,. 1981:254). This is obvious that the person is very cautious about being caught. This person knows actually what he or she is doing. Such action leads to a conclusion where littering is stated as a measure of attitude (Cialdini, et al,. 1981:254). Littering can also spoil a good picture (Argyrou, 1997:160) and turn it into something that is totally opposite to what is expected. It also indicates that a society is not functioning well(Namosuaia, 30 March 2012). There are some bad effects or disadvantage of littering,Buchamann (03 April 2012) agreed by saying that “Littering on the main street… causes a lot of public health concern, and social problem.” Such problems can be solved by implementing some ideas. Here is a suggestion made by Dobbs (1991:221) that littering can be minimize by charging (tell the person who litter to pay a certain amount of money for what he has done) those…

As our population continues to increase rapidly , it is important that humans become aware of the impact each one of us has on the world with our daily routines and habits. However , public attention to the state of our environment remains front and center – and will likely stay that way for the next few eras. Westlake (1999 - 2012) highlighted that in 2009 , a survey revealed that 75 percent of Americans admitted to littering in the last five years. Preventing littering should be a new main concern among the people , law makers in local communities and on up the political ladder. Hence , we , as students who are very concerned about this problem have suggested some ways to curb littering such as carry out heavier penalties , provide more trash cans , set up campaigns and set a good example to people.…
