Analysis Of The Film Vegucated
I watched the film Vegucated and overall I thought the film was educational but very graphic. Watching the scenes with the slaughter house were very eye opening to what we do to these animals all because we want to eat meat and dairy. It was just very sad to watch and it made me wonder if all of this was necessary and do we really need meat and dairy to survive? I also like how it follows the lives of three people as they go through the transition of becoming vegan or vegetarian. I also didn’t know that some foods were considered vegan like Oreos, cookies, and pancake mix because I consider them junk food and not very healthy. I wish the film talked about going on a plant-base diet and what kind of foods we should eat and the benefits of that

Jonathan Safran Foer is a vegetaria. He employs strong voice to advocate that people should be vegetaria. Eating meat will make the ecosystem breakdown. For example, he talked about salmon farming destroyed the system of wild salmon, and human’s eating habits are contagious, when you see your friends eating salmon you will eat it. The mammal shouldn’t be eaten by huaman. And now there are eighteen percent students are vegetaria in the college, and there will be more.If it is possible for people to see where does the food come from, they will say we’re buying the wrong thing. Therefore Jonathan Safran Foer believes that he is right to believe and there will be more people say “I am not going to eat that.”…

“In this bright future you can’t forget your past.” Sweet, simple, and to the point was this quote said by Jamaican reggae artist Bob Marley. The major theme of this movie is returning to the past to understand your future. In the beginning of the film the protagonist starts off as Mona, a self-centered model oblivious to her surroundings, and its importance. She stood on the very ground where many of our ancestors were chained and held captive until voyage, yet all she did was smile inartistically into the camera. Later while exploring she found herself trapped in a slave trade, and she became delirious. As the slave masters proceeded to pull her back into the dungeon for branding she screamed “I’m not like them, I am not one of them”. I find that in today’s society without blatantly screaming it, the African American culture is doing just that, separating ourselves so we’re not like them.…

The Verdict was the name of the movie I chose to view for this assignment. The leader in this movie was a lawyer named, Frank Galvin, played by Paul Newman. Frank Galvin is a washed up alcoholic lawyer who in the beginning of the movie is reduced to becoming a perpetual ambulance chaser. Initially his leadership skills are almost non-existent. He has no drive left. One of his associates, Mickey Morrissey, meets him at the office and notices once again that Frank is drunk and passed out on his office couch. Mickey tells Frank he is not going to send any more business his way because he doesn’t seem to put any sincere effort into his cases anymore. Mickey tells him to clean up for this one last case he is sending. It’s a chance to make big money on a medical malpractice suit where a young woman, Karen Ann Quinlan, enters the hospital in labor with her third child, and was given the wrong anesthetic which left her a vegetable for life. Karen’s sister is seeking retribution. The hospital where this occurred is owned by the Archdiocese. Everyone is willing to settle out of court. Frank Galvin takes the case based on profit but later discovers he is doing the right thing for the victim, her family, and his reputation. He wants to get even more money for the victim’s family. So when the lawyers for the Archdiocese offers Frank $210,000.00, he automatically refuses the money and decides to go to court for more. He does not consult his clients who later find out about the offer and are furious. They would have taken it. Now they are stuck going to court for a case in which they may lose completely. Frank reassures them he will win; but as the movie unfolds the rival law team for the defendant is working behind the scenes to sabotage his chances. They plant a woman into his path that becomes his girlfriend but is spying for the Archdiocese. His star witness, another doctor, suddenly takes off to the Caribbean the day before the court case starts. He is…

This film definitely reminded me that the “bad” food is cheaper and more abundant than it has ever been and we have detached ourselves from how food ends up on our plates. I’ve always thought of food as it is marketed to us, coming from a little farm with a white fence and rolling hills, but this film taught me that all this is simply an illusion. The food actually comes from mega factory farms, I learned. Our society has cheaper food but there have been more E. coli and Salmonella outbreaks in the past twenty years than ever before and obesity and the rate of diabetes are through the roof. One of the things that truly touched me was the story of the child who died from eating a burger. It was very sad to see a healthy little boy die from mistakes in the food industry. It definitely makes you wonder just how many times has this happened before without the public knowing. This was definitely the one issue that stood out for me among other obvious topics.…

In 1995 American Vegan Society hosted the 8th International Vegan Festival in San Diego California. Local and regional vegetarian societies have shared responsibilities for some of these events. These conventions have provided a valuable forum. Since 1989 videos of convention proceedings have taken the vegan message into living rooms across the USA, and a few years later, around the world. Since 1969 American Vegan Society has held educational programs, including cooking classes, at its Malaga New Jersey headquarters.…

The Wall Street Journal published “Would We Be Healthier with a Vegan Diet?” by T. Colin Campbell on September 18th of 2012 to enlighten American’s about the benefits of a vegan diet and to inform us about the discoveries in our meat products. Campbell lived and worked on a meat and dairy farm over the course of his life. He informed us that he consumed large amounts of both foods. Campbell soon went on to get his doctorate degree in Animal-Science and the material he learned while achieving this aspiration changed his life forever. One semester Campbell was forced to take an animal ethics classes which taught him the dangers that lurked within chicken and meat industries. Campbell’s findings “pointed away from meats and milk because the cows…

Throughout my whole life, I was raised knowing that animals should always be provided with the best care possible because they are sentient beings, except the ones you eat. I mean it made sense right? Everyone ate chicken strips and hamburgers, who wouldn't? One night, a little over two years ago I came across an undercover video of the standard slaughterhouse practices. My heart broke. How was I supposed to go back to the way things were? Acting like I didn't know that what I was eating came from such an immoral source. As I started researching and discovering more about the animal industry, I made the choice to try a quite different than the average eating habit. I went vegan.…

    Earthlings Vegetarianism

    • 507 Words

Not only factory farms but like in Japan, they kill dolphins just because they can. Dolphins are harmless creatures that they kill for sport. I’m not going to attempt to describe the gruesome scenes in Earthlings. But having suffered through an hour and a half of the most sickening footage I’ve ever seen, I realize that there’s tremendous power in the shock-and-awe approach. But if you’ve thought about becoming vegetarian but it just seems too hard, you should watch it. And if you’re vegetarian and think you’re already doing enough, you should watch it. Lastly, if you’re vegan and you want to strengthen your conviction and motivate yourself to do even more, you should watch it. I believe that everyone should watch this film. It has been said that if we had to kill our own meat, all of us would be vegetarian. Watching this movie isn’t far from that. If you eat some meat but do so in as responsible a manner as possible, making sure to get your food from sources that you know treat animals with respect, then I hope watching this makes you more passionate about that cause. If you eat lots of meat, don’t care much about animals, and are happy with that, watching Earthlings will probably make you less so. If your goal is to stay as you are in an ignorance-is-bliss approach, then you should not watch it. But I hope you do anyway. And I hope you share it with someone…

In Margaret Lundberg's short story "Eating green" she has a theory about the planet becoming a healthier place to live if everyone became a vegetarian, which I believe is true. Lundberg talks about her childhood and how right off the bat her mother had her eating healthy food and that pretty much stuck with her through out her whole life. "We had two vegetables with every meal, ate plain yogurt for breakfast, and excercised with jack LaLanne." If most families started off like that it would be easier for kids to enjoy eating healthier food now instead of them liking junk food. Most people do not realize that what they eat does effect the planet and how we live on a daily basis and how badly it effects our health.…
