Analysis Of Geert Hofstede's Theory On World Culture Differences
In 1978-83, Geert Hofstede conducted a study on world culture differences, as he interviewed numerous IBM workers from various countries (Marcus and Gould, 2000). Through the research and data analysis, Hofstede could differentiate the similarities and variances among the respondents (Marcus and Gould, 2000). Therefore, from the research, he developed his theory on the world different cultures and came up with essential dimensions (Marcus and Gould, 2000).

Generally, countries filled with individuals who feel uncomfortable towards uncertainty, such as Germany and Japan, prefer to acquire an excessive need for security (Doh and Luthans, 2018). The measurement of this dimension can be done in a number of ways. High-uncertainty-avoidance countries tend to have a huge concern when forming organizational activities and further scripted policies (Doh and Luthans, 2018). Whereas, countries with low-uncertainty-avoidance manage to have less structuring activities and less created rules (Doh and Luthans, 2018).

Individualism vs. collectivism individualism means that people tend to take care of themselves and their family members (Doh and Luthans, 2018). Collectivism is the movement of people to fit in groups or collectives and to look after each other for loyalty purpose (Doh and Luthans, 2018). China, however, scores 80, which means inequalities amongst members are tolerable (Hofstede Insights, 2018). Germany scores low (35) on this dimension. Control is disapproved and cooperation between managers and employees is relatively extreme. On the other hand, China has high power distance (Hofstede Insights, 2018). Mexico and China show the true existence of power distance, as they both score high on this dimension. Inequalities are tolerable and centralization is preferable in these countries (Hofstede Insights, 2018).
UNCERTAINTY AVOIDANCE On this dimension, Australia is moderate scores 51 compared to China, which scores low (30). This show that Chinese people are relaxed with the uncertainty (Hofstede Insights, 2018).

On this dimension, Germany is considered, compared to China, amongst uncertainty avoidance nations (65).
