An Imaginary Airplane Crash
Fifteenth of January in 2011, it was the day which I decided to go to the United States for my bachelor degree. Before I went to America, I had a large quantity of things to prepare: do researches about universities in the United States, write documents to apply to a university, get a visa so that I could go to America legally, and so on. After all these things were done, I bought a flight ticket to America. The university I chose was Marquette University and my destination was Milwaukee. I felt really excited about this flight. After all, this was going to be the longest flight that I had ever taken. It crossed the Pacific Ocean, so it might take me 26 hours to get to Milwaukee. At first, I was so curious about the people around me, because they all had a different color of skin, hair, eyes from me. I liked this feeling, it made me feel that I had already been in America. Then we started chatting, of course, and we had a great time. But my happy and excited mood disappeared soon, because of this long and boring trip. After a while, a beautiful airline stewardess asked me if I wanted some food. Do you know how I answered this offer? “I don’t like that smile on your face, get out of my face, please!”. That was my answer. Suddenly, I felt sad and lonely, and started missing my family, like a home bird. And then, taking naps became the only thing I would like to do during this flight. All of a sudden, the plane began to shake and it was shaking really hard. Even, you could not even keep your balance easily. Later on, the sound of the captain of this airplane came from the broadcast, and it said” You guys are lucky, our plane is going to fall into the Pacific Ocean. Isn’t it amazing! I have never had this accident before. So let’s enjoy it.” That sound disappeared in the noisy and screaming soundings. At the same time, our plane was falling down in the dark and gloomy sky. The only thing I could do was prey for good luck. If we could fall into the ocean, it would not be that bad. Because of the sea water, we might survive this crash. “ Oh no! We are going to hit an island.” someone shouted out. It was Hawaii. Actually, that would be my first choice, if I were planning to take a vacation. Now, I have to say, my dream came true. There was not that much time for us to be alive. Let’s count down. Three, two, one. Finally, I was lying on the floor with a hurt leg. I realized that it was a nightmare and I fell down to the floor from the bed. Here, one thing was good: I survived from the “crash”, didn’t I? And now, I have been in Milwaukee for six months, happy and safe. I really enjoy the life here with my teachers, mates and American friends.

It was the day before I would board the plane and travel to the foreign land of “America”. The sun had set here in China and it had already risen for a new day there in America. Tomorrow morning was the time. I was still saying my goodbyes to my relatives around me and celebrating my success with a big feast. It was a “culture thing”. My friend calls through the telephone and I expected it to be a “Congrats, buddy! Live long! Succeed in the US!” kind of call, but it wasn’t. He…

What would I do in America? I looked into the faces of my companions for a comforting answer, but they were as young and bewildered as I, and my only consolation was their proximity and the familiarity of their dialects. It was not until we had left Japan that I began to feel better.…

The airplane took off some minutes later and all of the sudden a silence fell on the board. Everyone seemed to be so quiet and that made me even more afraid. I kept looking over the window but I could see no lights down to the earth because they were all covered by the big gray clouds. It didn’t take too long and the turbulences started. The captain made an announcement that there would be a lot of turbulences due to the bad weather but there was no need to be alarmed .The air hostesses kept informing us to tighten our seat belts and be calm. On that moment I could hear people starting chatting with quiet voices creating a tensioned situation on the board. My mom kept distracting me and trying to keep my mind off by telling me funny stories because she could feel that I was getting afraid.…

I was very excited to fly on an airplane. I asked people who had traveled on an airplane before lots of questions about traveling. I had never traveled on an airplane before, so I was a little nervous. Everyone I knew who had flown on an airplane told me that they liked it, I would like it too, it wasn’t scary, so I would be fine. That was a little comforting to hear. I was all packed and ready. I traveled from Negril to Montego Bay, where I would catch my morning flight to Charlotte, North Carolina. I got to the airport in Montego Bay, I went through customs, I waited around for a few minutes, and then we boarded. I got the window seat that I always wanted, so I could see Jamaica from thousands of feet up in the sky. I was on the plane for about fifteen minutes and then I saw Cuba. It was amazing to see Jamaica and Cuba for the first time from the air. We flew along the coast of Cuba for a while, and it was not bad at all. I got up when it was safe, used the bathroom, and then returned to my seat. About an hour and a half of being in the sky, I could not see land any more, the plane was going through some thick clouds, then suddenly the plane started shaking, I was very nervous, and I could tell lots of the others were nervous too. Then the pilot got on the intercom and said, “we are just experiencing some turbulence, no need to worry.” We continued the journey to our destination. It was a smooth flight…

This was the fist time I flew in a plane and I was so sure I was going to die. I imagined the planes engines suddenly breaking down and then slowly we plummeted down to certain death. “Excuse me miss, would you like something to drink?” the flight attendant asked me. I must have looked worse then I thought because she said it in a calm soothing way sort of like she was trying to talk someone out of jumping off the side of a twenty story building. I looked at her and shook my head from side to side, closed my eyes and concentrated on not looking out the window. I would think myself to be a brave person, but when that plane left the ground I was praying to God like no other has prayed to God ever before. I must have said like twenty Hail Mary’s before my heart got down to it’s regular beat, a normal seventy beats per minute.…

I was so nervous and excited at the same time as to what was awaiting me. When the door opened and I stepped down from the plane, I felt a blanket of safety wrap its arms around me cover my whole body like a warm blanket being wrapped around me. At first I could not believe my eyes. I thought it must be an illusion. Hence I pinched my hand several times to make sure that I was not dreaming. Confusedly I gazed all around me only to find complete darkness everywhere as far as my eyes could reach. But soon I realized that it was not an illusion as I heard a continuous low frequency sound that could cause serious headache to any living being on earth. It was a bizarre sound which I had never heard before and I had my hair raised. My fingers quickly found themselves inside my ear hole which lightened the pain a bit. At last the flying thing touched the ground and I experienced a mild earthquake. The thing could be ten ton in weight and fifty meter in diameter. The whole place was trembling as it got down on the plain field. However I found myself hiding behind the car all through this time which I must have done out of extreme fear. While I was busy about myself the whole spaceship was covered with smoke all around it. At last when I gazed again at that round heavenly thing I saw dazzling red light coming…

    Plane crash

It was a smooth night flight and for a change even turbulence seemed to be having a day off. But about twenty minutes later, the plane sharply jolted back and forth. It was sharp enough to grab everybody’s attention. A cold shiver ran down my spine and I quietly scolded myself for visualizing all those movies about plane crashes in just a fraction of a second. I hadn’t even calmed my nerves down when suddenly extreme turbulence started occurring, making the plane lurch sideways and bags started falling from the upper luggage compartments. I could hear faint cries accompanied by nervous laughter around when the pilot made an announcement that the plane had merely gotten stuck in an air pocket and there was nothing to worry about. But just to add up to our nervousness, the cabin lights started flickering and in a minute, we were surrounded by utter darkness. The roaring of the engines, the whispering of people everything went as silent as a grave and all I could hear was the spooky whoosh of the wings against the wind.…

My journey to America I woke up to the sound of a singing rooster, My grandmother came into the room "oh now you’re awake" I've made breakfast she said in Creole. I got excited and ran in to the kitchen, but before I had reached the kitchen, a smell hit me, I already knew what it was. My senses already got my mind imagining what my grandma had made. The smell of coffee was delightful for us in Haiti cause its our every morning medicine, Then I smelled the fried egg and sausage my mind went wild cause my taste buds can already taste it.My typical day consist of breakfast early in the morning, taking a shower, going outside to play, go back in for dinner taking up to 2 hours the max to finish all my dinner. You see I was the type to not want to eat my appetite was the opposite of a cows. So in order to finish all my dinner I ate very slow And took my time at that. Which would always cause a big fuss around the house cause my mother would get mad and my grandmother would take my side and sat there with me until I had ate everything on that plate. You see around that time I was eleven, which would cause my mom to call me a big baby.Which really didn't bother me that she would say that.but back to my typical day, after eating I would go back outside and play some more with my cousins. I remember one of those day me and one of my favorite cousin was sitting down on the ground between his house and my house it, we watch as the sun went down and as the stars and moon replaced it. I saw a plane going about his place in the sky, I usually saw planes from afar but this one was closer then the ones I ever saw before. And I turned to my left towards my cousin I told him I wish that I was in one of those. One day I Pray to god that I get the chance to get in one and see the other side of the world. My world to me was Haiti, I never seen another side or been to another part of Haiti but where I was born which was the capital of…
