Amy Cuddy Response
David Cameron is an Ass Amy Cuddy is a social scientist and like many experts in their field has given a TED talk on the subject of her main work. In this TED talk she explores how our body language greatly affects who we become. Cuddy also shows how snubbing a handshake from your personal security after a visiting president shakes said guard’s hand, makes U.K Prime Minister David Cameron look like an ass. This 20 minute TED talk has been viewed by millions, and is one of the most popular ones currently on YouTube. Cuddy begins her speech by showing funnier examples of her main points. She shows mostly photos of world leaders, and also the previously mentioned clip of David Cameron. She uses these as

She speaks quickly, moves a bit around stage, breathes into the mic quite a bit, and has a few clutch words. Her speed in speaking is rather quick, which is understandable due to how much information she had to share with the audience. I feel she could have spoken a little slower through the speech. She rocks a little on stage beyond a normal level, this is more common when a person does not have a podium like at many TED talks. It is not too distracting mainly because the camera is zoomed on her face for the majority of the speech. One thing I noticed about half way into the speech is that she was inhaling into the microphone, this got distracting after a while. I know that is something that is harder to regulate, but if she moved the mic a little further away from her it most likely could have been rectified. She does use clutch words a few times in her speech, a few sentences were begun with so, and like was said for non-comparison a couple times. Overall she does not commit any of these errors to the point of detraction from the main point, and she still got her point across effectively which is truly all the

In the daily social life, communication plays an important role in helping individuals to share ideas and strengthen their relationship. Except the words people used in the communication, body language is the other significant part of it. Body language is a special language that people use body changes to cooperate with their words to express feelings and emphasize ideas. Every single body language the person used will affect the result of his conversation, even though he does not aware of it. Obviously, effective as well as decent body language will help them set confidence and support from others. In order to explain how body language works, I choose an interview of Naheed Nenshi who is the mayor of Calgary. By analyzing his body language through the interview, we can see how he reacts with…

After the film she invited her to guests on stage to talk about the issues here in this area. One of the issues that came up was the bacteria that is in Bellevue Park where the dog park is and also a Navy point by my house. Then her two guests talked about Emerald Coast keeper.org and how it can keep people in this area in touch with what is going on in their waterways around Pensacola Florida. All of Alexandria Cousteau points were valid and unbiased and up to date some of these issues were familiar to me but others were not. For example how much pollution comes out at the paper mills here in Pensacola Florida. Alexandra Cousteau language was calm and very descriptive for example, “sacrificed the environment for economy.” When she was getting her speech she was very enthusiastic because she walked back and forth on the stage. When the short film was shown the audience was more in tune to hearing what she had to say about our waterways. When she was giving the speech he also used a microphone she concluded the speech saying “thank you all for coming and I would be giving the speech if you all were not here” and commanded us to action to get…

He had great eye contact and really strived to make sure that students were really connected with his speech and his message. He gestured with his hands and looked around the Chapel at about everyone. His volume and rate was splendid because it wasn’t too fast and he looked completely comfortable standing up there and speaking. I think that his strengths is emphasizing different phrases or words throughout his speech, volume, rate, and gestures. I think that he could work a little more on eye contact because there is always room for improvement, but it was still pretty great. He did a pretty good job of making sure to look at both sides of the audience in the CFL, which is actually a very hard thing to do. Sometimes people play to one side more than the other side because it is their dominant side.…

I was impressed with Mary’s ability to present a very emotional and scary topic with a balanced tone of voice. Because she didn’t present emotion I was able to take in what she was saying even as she used various devices to get her point across and I felt this was very effective. At the end when she spoke to her children as the future of her cause was a tear jerker, and even if this wasn’t necessary, was a smart move to gain support for her cause. The underlying current of her whole speech was that with proper education and an…

One thing Bo did lack is his vocal delivery; at times his voice would get scratchy and be had to hear. His voice was monotone at times, but he managed to work some energy into his voice. In the beginning of the speech he took a few vocalized pauses and at the end it was hard to understand him for about ten seconds. Bo’s speaking volume was good I would say he was normal at about 140 wpm and he messed on one or two words. His articulation was good he made sense and was always on topic with his speech and he did not have any articulation errors. Bo did a great job on the beginning and ending on his word pronunciation. I did not notice any dialect, he did not miss pronounce anything so bad it made everything hard to understand. Bo’s speech was not choppy nor was it smooth. Bo made a few mistakes early on in his speech but he made up for them at the end. He was reading off of his…

Jessica’s verbal delivery of her speech was very good. She was fluent throughout her whole speech. She didn’t have any vocalized pauses in the middle of her speech but she did at the beginning and end. I think that her tone was very appropriate for her speech. She was excited when she was explaining her trip so I could tell that it was a place that she actually enjoyed. The rate of Jessica’s speech was a little too fast but I was able to understand her clearly still. She also included transitions when they were necessary to enhance her speech.…
