Aluminum formwork is a rapid pace construction system for forming cast in place concrete structures. Formwork the term given to either temporary or permanent molds into which concrete or similar materials are poured. In the context of concrete construction, the “falsework” supports the shuttering molds. This formwork is built out of prefabricated modules with a metal frame (usually steel or aluminum) and covered on the application (concrete) side with material having the wanted surface structure (steel, aluminum, timber, etc.). In this method, aluminum beams are created out of telescoping pieces allowing the beams to span various lengths and be reused for constructing structures of varying sizes. Aluminum formwork can also be used for scheduling and controlling the work of other construction trades such as steel reinforcement, concrete placement, and mechanical and electrical trades
Forms made from aluminum are in many respects similar to those made of steel. However, because of their lower density, aluminum forms are lighter than steel Forms, and this is their primary advantage when compared to steel. As the strength of aluminum in handling, tension and compression is less than the strength of steel, it is necessary to use large sections. The formwork turns out to be economical if large numbers of reuses are made in construction. The major disadvantage of aluminum forms is that no changes can be made once the formwork is fabricated.
Aluminum formwork has advantages in the construction process. Aluminum formwork saves time, is cost effective and the quality of the construction is improve. Advantages of aluminum formwork is its environmentally friendly no need the use of plywood or timber. The formwork supports itself in two directions for the structures lateral and vertical support so it can basically support itself. Aluminum formwork is

One of the many elements on the periodic table is Aluminum. Aluminum is the 13th element, and it is located in period two and group thirteen. Aluminums symbol is Al and it has an electron configuration of [Ne] 3s2 3p1. Aluminum also has an atomic mass of 26.982 and its atomic number is 13. This element was discovered by Hans Christian Oersted in the year of 1825, and was named by the English chemist Sir Humphry Davy (Helmenstine, 2012). Its name ‘Aluminum’ came from the Latin words ‘alumen’ or ‘alum’, which is an astringent and dyeing mordant. Originally, Davy called it “Alumium’ but the publishers later changed it to Aluminum, and that’s how it remains in the United States (N/A, n.d.).…

I faced several challenges during in the project. One of these challenges I faced, after we installed electrical pipes inside the concrete slab, we found some of them are closed or damaged during casting by casting workers. Meetings were held with the RE manager, project manager and the contractor to solve this problem in a minimum financial cost, I suggest that we have to redesign all pipes routing through slabs which closed in casting using other pipes which are working. I used my experience in AutoCAD and design to redesign pipes routing and used available pipes to feed another closed point, without affecting the design or load balance. We were able to overcome the problem without any additional amounts. Meanwhile, I coordinate with the civil engineer to follow up the casting process to prevent any damage to electrical pipes or…

Lightweight concrete can be defined as a type of concrete which includes an expanding agent in that it increases the volume of the mixture while giving additional qualities such as nailbility and lessened the dead weight. It is lighter than the conventional concrete. The use of lightweight concrete has been widely spread across countries such as USA, United Kingdom and Sweden. The main specialties of lightweight concrete are its low density and thermal conductivity. Its advantages are that there is a reduction of dead load, faster building rates in construction and lower haulage and handling costs. Lightweight concrete maintains its large voids and not forming laitance layers or cement films when placed on the wall. This research was based on the performance of aerated lightweight concrete. However, sufficient water cement ratio is vital to produce adequate cohesion between cement and water. Insufficient water can cause lack of cohesion between particles, thus loss in strength of concrete. Likewise too much water can cause cement to run off aggreagate to form laitance layers, subsequently weakens in strength. Therefore, this fundamental research report is prepared to show activities and progress of the lightweight concrete. Focused were on the performance of aerated lightweight concrete such as compressive strength tests, water absorption and density and supplementary tests and comparisons made with other types of lightweight concrete.…
