I always try my best and strive for excellence. I have 3 A+s and 3 As on my 7th grade report card. All my 7th grade teachers awarded me Academic Excellence (English, Math, Science and Social Science) Certificate at the end of the school year. My strong area is math. My favorite one is dancing. I started dancing at the age of 4. Since 2004, I have taken dance classes in Shin Dance Academy for 3 hours every week. I have earned a lot of medals and trophies from numerous dance competitions. I received the Platinum Award in 2006 “Showstopper” Dance Competition performing a solo, the Gold Award in 2005 and 2007 “Showstopper” for solos, and the Gold Award in the American Chinese Dance Association Dance Competition in 2005 and 2006. In 2009, I competed in the Chinese Youth Folk Dance Championship in Los Angeles and made it to the first place in the solo group for children younger than 12. This year, I performed with two other talented dancers in the Showbiz 2010 Regional Competition and our trio won the 1st place in Folkloric Category. I have performed in many Chinese cultural events, and the 2009 multicultural competition of the young performers “Colibri”. I also performed for the seniors at the Pasadena Senior Community Center. On June 17, 2010, I performed a solo dance in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory American Heritage event. I feel energetic and happy whenever I dance. An audience’s applause makes me feel rewarded for presenting a beautiful form of arts.

Besides dancing, I am also a Girl Scout. This year, our Troop 889 held a “Helping Hands Festival” to help Haiti after its devastating earthquake. We held game booths, craft sale, bake sale and yard sale. We raised more than two thousand dollars to Haiti with hard work from every scout and their

He died in 1912 from an accident at work. Her mom was a teacher. Marian had two younger sisters. Marian showed that she was a great singer as a child, but her family did not have the money to pay for proper training. People in her church raised money for her to go to music school for a year. When Marian was six years old she started singing in the choir at the Union Baptist Church. She received the nickname "The Baby Contralto." Eventually, she received five dollars for each performance. When Marian was 15 she started voice lessons with Mary Saunders Patterson. The Philadelphia Choral Society raised money to give Marian $500.00 so she could study for two years with Agnes Reifsnyder. Marian went to William Penn High School until her music career developed. She switched to South Philadelphia High School where she focused on singing and music. Marian graduated at age 18. She tried to get into a local music school, but was turned away because of her color. Marian's devotion to music made an impression on the rest of her choir. My mother enrolled my sisters and me into dance lessons at age three, which progressed into a competitive dance team when I was eight. Through our Platinum trophies and invitations to National competitions, the most emotive was my lyrical solo performance for residents of the Abernathy Nursing Home. Additionally, I enjoy spending my Saturday mornings volunteering and organizing goods for East Lincoln Christian Ministries. When the creative mood strikes me, I put my four years of…

I have always been a consistent honor student in my previous years in school. I applied for and eventually passed the ESEP (Engineering and Science Education Program) and I am proud to say I am still a part of this class. Both of these are, so far, my greatest achievements. They have let me realize three things. First, I am above the average; I am worthy to study to the top universities of our country. Second, I was born to be a professional; a professional who is prepared to serve my countrymen and a professional who is one of those who will move our country from the third world into the first world. Lastly, I figured out that I want to use my talents and skills to help improve myself, my community and the society as a promising new professional that I aspire to be.…
