4. CINEMATOGRAPHY – VISUAL EFECT, AUDIO, PROPS
THE CINEMATOGRAPHY IS GREAT FOR ME, KNOWING THAT THIS FILM WAS SHOT IN THE EARLY DAYS OF FILM PRODUCTION. IT REALLY DRIVES YOU THE FEEL OF THE SITUATION. VERY HEART POUNDING, EMOTIONS ARE REALLY REGISTERING DURING VIOLENT SCENES AND SOME DRAMA SCENES OF DEATH AND MENTAL TORTURING DURING THEIR HAZING DAYS.

VISUAL EFFECT IS BAD BECAUSE GIVEN ITS TIME, FILM PRODUCTION THEN IS WAY DIFFERENT FROM TODAY’S FILM PRODUCTION.
PROPS, COSTUME ARE REALLY RETRO. GIVES THE 70’S & 80’S FEEL.

Music by Ding Achacoso
Lyrics by Joseph Olfindo
Sung by Mike Arvisu ALPHA KAPPA OMEGA WELCOMING SONG
5. MUSICAL SCORING – HOW IT CONTRIBUTED

A lot has changed in the movie industry since the 1920's. New movies with 3D technology and CGI graphics, expanded the possibilities of special effects. There were no wires that could be later edited, no projections, or green screens. Filming was difficult and expensive, and the work conditions were dangerous. Actors were literally burned by reflectors because cameras needed a lot of light.…

This film taxed me emotionally as I struggled to separate the arguments in the overwhelming setting of Auschwitz. I was speechless throughout most of the film and spiritually shocked by the end. From the initial blasphemy by the arrogant Moche to Rabbi Akiba apostatizing at the end of the trial we were given a wide spectrum of powerful arguments in a very direct cut and dry method of delivery. The entire room held their breathe for the duration of the free will testimony given by Lieble which for me was the most heart wrenching point in this movie. Altogether I can say I've never been at such a heightened sense of emotion during a film before this.…

I loved the way the switched from color to black and white. I got two different meanings from this. 1) We live today in our present environment in a world filled with color. Everything is great, we don't go through hunger, torture and our dignities aren't taken from us. The black and white represents to me other people around the world which still today re going through similar times as these victims in this film went through. 2) The theme in which everyone in class agreed on which the comparison about the past and the present was very clear. The same pathways which were filled with the blood of the victims were now all buried under the ground. The color represented the present and the black and white represented the past.…
