Agulto's Bargaining Style
Why did you choose a particular bargaining style?

Agulto chooses different bargaining style, first he used the hard-bargaining style, to intimidate the seller and to set a standard. Using hard bargaining style gives the advantage to the buyer, winning it at all cost. Then he talks to the seller like giving a commitment that if they sell us at a particular price we will order from them another sets of sack of rice. And we bombarded them with flinches or offers that will reach their concession. And before we switch to principled bargaining style we ask them a take-it or leave-it so that they may realize that we are already giving a great offer and if they won't take our offer they can't have another offer like that.

Then he used principled bargaining style in the latter part when they are hesitating to take our offer. So, we focused on our interest, to have a win-win situation. So, we give each other a options on how we can both obtain our objectives. We ended up having a deal that can benefit the both parties which is we will order 1,000 sacks of rice (700/sack) for this month and another 1,000 sacks (650/sack) for next month, but we will pay them at once and they will just deliver the 1,000 sacks next

He said that he learned the hard-bargaining style in online games that he played back in elementary and high school. In online games bargaining is important because if you won't bargain you will be exploited by your fellow gamers. Everyone in the game is aiming for profit and for markup and every offer you will make should be always on your advantage. He can say that playing online game is not bad for a student, but it makes you readier for the future as you can apply what you have learned in there in your daily life.

Also, he added that he learned the principled bargaining style in their family business in a fish port where principled bargaining is used to setup a price for every kind of fish products that is

As the seller I was able to get a deal that was within my BATNA and close to the class average. I went into this negotiation with a BATNA of 140 and was able to get a deal at 135. I believe that I was successful in this negotiation because I enter the meeting with a solid plan including my BATNA and reservation point. I also listened closely to the opposing side’s arguments and adjusted my approach and BANTA accordingly to receive the best results. Since this was the first negotiation of the course, I believe that with all the information I have learned in the past five weeks that I executed this negotiation the best using the information from this…

The video is an informative/educative session that walks us through the DOs and DON’Ts of negotiation. Negotiation is an art that involves preparation, bargaining & settlement. Negotiation is all about striking a deal that benefits both the parties. One should be of the opinion that he/she needs to get the bigger portion of the pie and leave the other party in a loss situation. A deal will only last if both the parties are happy with the outcome. It is very critical that each party knows their advantages, strengths & weaknesses and that each party has done their homework before they begin the negotiation. Each party needs to research, ask the right questions and reach an optimal conclusion.…

Jane McGonigal’s “Games For Change Keynote” lecture is about how much of an influence games have on society and the impact it can bring. Her two main questions to answer during this lecture are “What can games change?” and “What do games change?” McGonigal presents a list of some people’s twitter responses to what games do for them. The first few responses refer to ones emotional state. People with initial negative emotions such as sadness and anxiety can play games and end up feeling much better. Another change she presents is “mental resilience”. This refers to a person’s mindset and how it is altered with games. It is possible for people’s confidence and performance levels to increase after some time playing games. The next thing McGonigal talks about is “social resilience”. How people socialize and interact with the people around them can change with game play as well. For example, many of the games in the present day are multiplayer and present an option to connect with players around the world. This creates socializing and interacting with other online players who may even be real life friends. Before she talks about the science and data behind her lecture she gives us a list of how we can measure these changes when playing games. The list includes analyzing emotional, mental, neurological, social, self-efficacy, and engagement levels. In more general terms, McGonigal believes that “games can change your life.”…

Some researchers have suggested that in negotiations, collaborative style is the most effective, but the truth is that it may be too overbearing for the negotiations (Brett, 1984). While collaborating, one is most often to share all the information to arrive at a satisfactory solution. However, information is rarely shared until trust is established. As a result, negotiators adopt a cautiously collaborative style in the beginning, slowly trying to find out whether the other party will share the information that it knows. This also helps build trust (Fells, 1993). If trust is not established, negotiators shift to the win-lose style of negotiation from the win-win style, there by trying to maximize their returns.…
