After completing the survey for my economics course it gave me a career field that I should consider joining based off of my answers to the survey. The field I was given was investigative. I agree with choice because I love to solve puzzles and work with things that makes me have to think to figure it out. Also, the investigative field is a good fit for me because the jobs that are involved in this field involve math which is one of my favorite subjects whether it be engineering or computer programming. Plus, with it being investigative I am not limited by the math field because I could also work in the medical field by being a doctor trying to find a malignant tumor. The two career paths I have decided on that stem from this career category would have to be computer hardware engineer or being a biomedical engineer.…

Why don’t college students see their professors outside of the class or campus? It’s because professors are always at home working hard to plan lessons! Yes lessons, for the same people who casually walk by the professor after a lecture uttering no words. Consider the amount of time and effort that go into their jobs; arranging each lesson out, reviewing the material over and over, grading papers, and even trying to remember all their 100+ students’ names! At the same time, trying to make the next lesson a more fun and enjoyable experience for the students. It’s incredible what professors do to see that their students understand the material and accomplish success. The material is very challenging, and they try their best to make it as simple as possible. On top of all that, they will sometimes make an effort to be available after class for tutoring. Most students ignore these efforts and just take it all for granted, while never really giving back. The devotion professors make to their students goes unnoticed and it shouldn’t, it should be recognized and appreciated.…

With many first-generation college students placing less emphasis on working with others and engaging in social activities, it is crucial to identify how educators can get these students more involved in their communities (Nadelson et al., 2013). According to findings from Gibbons et al. (2006), it seems plausible that first-generation college students may not be as involved because of their perceptions and expectations going into college.
