They have broken records, created weapons, and sent satellites into space. One example of a record that was broken or goal that was achieved was breaking through the sound barrier. “In October 1947, Chuck Yeager took the rocket-powered Bell X-1 past the speed of sound.” (Aerospace Engineering) On the other hand it is believed that other pilots may have done this before him while dive bombing in battle. In 1948 the first jet flew across the atlantic. Again in 1952 yet another distance record was broken when the first non stop flight to Australia was accomplished. Aerospace engineers have created lots of airplanes,and weapons during a time of war one example of that is “in 1884, when the first fully controllable free-flight was made in a French Army electric-powered airship, La France, by Charles Renard and Arthur Krebs.
